Daniela wants to learn as much as she can, especially if it helps her improve her English language. The BASC-2 results showed that Daniela does have a good rapport with her teachers. She stated that she is glad she has their support and trust, she feels that they believe in her abilities to do well in school. She also mentioned that she has like her educational experience in the United States so far, she has great friends who share the same interests as her. Daniela has a positive attitude towards schools and her goals remain the same, she wants to attend a good high school, enroll in college and become a police officer. The examiner asked Daniela why her preference was more towards becoming a police officer rather than a teacher, she said that while she appreciates what teachers do, she may not have the patience to deal with students. She stated that she will among the first in her family to pursue and obtain a college degree. Many people in the Dominican Republic due to lack of resources and financial obligations can pursue a higher education. In an interview with Daniela’s mother, she mentioned that coming to this country was best solution for her family. Here in the United States her children would have the opportunities and privileges that she did not have. There was too violence and corruption going on in the Dominican Republic, she feared for her family’s safety. Daniela’s mother also expressed that she is proud of the progress that her children have made so far especially Daniela. She stated she was more worried about her because of the school she is currently in. Daniela often complains to her about the student’s disruptions and other issues that seem to take out of focus. In the BASC-2, Daniela stated that she tends to worry and become nervous. Daniela stated that the reason she sometimes feels that way is when she is overwhelmed with other things, it’s not just
