Apperances Can Be Deceiving
“Appearances can be Deceiving”

We all together as a family joyfully entered the new house that my parents had just bought in which I would finally have my own bedroom; so the first thing I did when we had arrived was ask which room was going to be my bedroom. The move was on a long weekend which made things much more complicated than expected. However, it was all worth it since in the end I got to pick the curtains and wall colors for my room.
Monday came along and with it came an arrival at a new school which was a little far from home. Once at school a lady just popped out of nowhere and asked me “Young lady, are you new here?” to which I responded “Yes ma’am.” “Well then, may I please have your full name and grade?” “Angela Rodriguez and I am in 12th grade.” “Alight then Ms. Rodriguez, you will be in room 13 with Mr. Albert Machete for your religion class.” “Thanks”, I said. I left and headed toward class in room 13. But on my way there I was thinking why they hadn’t given the Religion class a different room number instead of 13 which seem very ironic to me.
My first impression was that of an antique and forgotten prison. Along the hallways there where gigantic windows like those of a prison and to make matters worse you could hear the screams and noise that every single one of the students was making which sounded like screams of disparity and help to my ears. Upon entering the classroom I was surprised by what I saw, a young handsome gentlemen who claimed to be Mr. Machete
The day continued normaly. When I was leaving I saw that everybody was dressed in white clothes which made me go home a little bewildered. At bed time I remembered that they were all dressed in white and since the night was cold and the moon was full I imagined that they where ghosts.
But, my biggest surprise was getting to school the next day and seeing the tallest tree by the entrance weeping. Everyone said that around Halloween time that this tree reincarnates in Madame Lucia a

This paper will examine setting the stage for strategic compensation and bases for pay. There are three main goals of compensation departments: internal consistency, market competitiveness, and recognition of individual contributions. Internally consistent compensation systems define the relative value of each job among all jobs within a company. (Martocchio, pg. 22, 2011) With this system companies want employees to be paid more based on their qualifications and responsibilities. They believe someone with less experience should be paid differently. To determine such evaluation companies use job analysis in order to provide job descriptions. The job evaluation is to determine pay according to a particular position. Market-competitive pay systems attract and retain the most qualified employees. (Martocchio, pg. 22, 2011) By obtaining a strategic analysis and compensation surveys companies can determine who is most beneficial to the company based on the results. Strategic analysis examines long term growth and outlines the company’s profile to keep them in the market. Compensation surveys are collected and reviewed to determine different pay and which benefit packages are best needed. Compensation surveys are important because they enable compensation professionals to obtain realistic views of competitors’ pay practices. (Martocchio, pg. 22, 2011) Finally, recognizing individual contributions determines pay structures, pay grades, and pay ranges. The pay structures focuses on the difference in an employees’ contribution to company. With this structure it helps the company determine which employee has greater knowledge of the job their performing which leads to better pay. Companies with similar job groups use pay grades to determine compensation. Pay ranges start at the bottom and reach the maximum allowed depending on the job.…

Engrossed in some thought James started to dust off the furniture as soon as we reached home. The rain had stopped and the sky was clear, the rooms were filled with light again. After we cleaned the hall, we headed towards the study and started to clean there, I felt being watched all the time, every time I turned back, there was nothing, just the empty space and James looking out of the window and around the room while doing his chore.…

After half an hour, we arrived at the graveyard. The graveyard was deserted and had hundreds of graves spaced out all over the field. The faint wind moaned through the trees and the grass danced. There was a high-pitched howl every so often. I feared that it might have been the dead spirits that came to complain about being disturbed. But I knew that ghosts weren’t real until…

Once upon a time, in a world of its own, stood the prison-like building of Nichols Junior High. Unimposing to any untrained eye idling by on the streets passing by outside, the green and blue clad crowded halls harbored the mischief of troublesome youth running wild. Meanwhile, all others hid in the shadows waiting for the bells to sound and the leashes to be loosened in a mockery of freedom. The cacophony of shouts to gather allies, competitions for dominance, and trade in some good or another only to be smashed under the watchful eye of the wardens draped the entirety of the building. Only when the cells were filled to the brim did a frail sense of quiet try to fight the inevitable losing battle of madness until uproar in one of the cells shattered it once more.…

A major theme in my life is improvement. I challenge myself to take risks and set high expectations for myself. For instance, I strive to run faster and for longer distances every couple of times I approach the treadmill belt. I am obstinate about my minimum distance, 2.2 miles, and my minimum speed, 6.8. A major component of improving myself is learning. Every new word is a miniscule enhancement of my massive English vocabulary pool, but it is still a step in the right direction. I enjoy becoming more knowledgeable in both domestic and international affairs. I wish I could have more time to pour into reading current event and health articles. I am particularly attached to drumming the latest scientific discovery or innovate biotechnology product…

We reviewed the day’s plan as I helped him clean up. While cleaning around the room I noticed how colorful the room was. There were: banners of letters and numbers hanging on the wall, as well as a large alphabet carpet on the floor for the kids to sit on, toys to play with and books to read. As the children arrived, they removed their belongings and placed them in the cubbies. Afterwards, they grabbed their name tags and set their lunchboxes on the lunchbox table.
