Apple Observation
Observations of an Apple The assignment was to observe a fruit or vegetable for at least an hour. Before I started, I read Samuel Scudder’s essay “Learning to See” where he talks about having to do a similar type of assignment but with a fish. He eventually became engrossed in the fish and so I became determined that I was going to try to find all I possibly could about my apple in the hour that I had. When I looked even closer, it seemed that the flesh of the apple was made up of tiny crystals that glistened in the light because of the juice and its cream coloring. The inside was even colder since it was wet. The sweet smell of the apple grew stronger and I finally gave in and took a

In conclusion, “Blackberry Eating” written by Galway Kinnell brings many memories to my mind. Picking the blackberries, eating the blackberries, and making jelly and cobbler out of blackberries are the memories with my grandparents. These moments are very special to me. Grandmother, Granddaddy and Pa are now passed on and they are just a memory. I wish I can remember every single detail and go back to them days. I will always remember “blackberry-eating in late September” with my grandparents.…

My grandparent’s house had a big garden with countless tree, which we could harvest a lot of delicious fruits from. Whenever I had a chance to come , I tried many of them. There were some new fruits that I hadn’t tried yet . However I still remember that sunny day, I saw a strange fruit . In the summer of my fifth grade , I came to see my grandparents . As soon as we arrived , I ran to the garden to see if there were any ripened fruit for me to eat . I saw a different fruit because I could tell by the appearance . The fruit was quite similar to guava and it has a little external part outside of the fruit . I thought that part would be the scape of that fruit so I took the part I believed that was the body and tossed away the “ scrap “. Because the “ body “ part had a mixed taste between…

When we are kids our parents tend to teach us how important is to eat fruits, what they don’t teach us is what comes along with that. That is for us to experience because only the ones who do, are the ones who can really take something out of it. I am a fruit person; I can say that I like them all but every time I try eating strawberries something interesting happens to me. I am like a little girl looking for what is there to learn about fruits in her first day of kindergarten, but all at the same time, using my five senses.…
