Application Essay To Enlist In The Marine Corps

The skin of my palms stuck to the gym floor as if they had been spot welded together. The pain in my arms burned from my wrists into my shoulders. My face cringed as the end of the set neared. With each rep I silently chanted the next word I had ingrained into my consciousness. I forced out my breath“United-States-Marine-Corps” though each cluster of four reps. Unable to muster the strength to pump out another push-up, my arms gave out and my chest hit the floor. Taking sanctuary in the few seconds of rest, I rolled over to start my next set of sit-ups. The same U-S-M-C chant subconsciously repeated itself as I repped out each sit-up. In the beginning of my eighth grade year, I made the decision to enlist in the Marine Corps. Since then, that goal has been my motivation in almost every aspect of my life. From sports to school work, I justify each task with its relevance to enlisting. The Marines Corps has been something I feel I truly need to become a part of. My respect towards those who have served and my support of our freedom, has driven me towards this path.
