Appreciation Definition Essay
Appreciation

Appreciation is an emotion that is not always displayed when necessary. People seldom show how much they appreciate ones words or action. When you appreciate something you show your gratitude in word form such as thank you or maybe even in the form of some type of gift or card. There are many ways to say you appreciate something or someone but for some reason in our society appreciation isn't shown as much as it should be. People seem to take peoples kindness as a given instead of something they should be thankful for. Even small gestures such as holding the door for the person behind you should be thanked. It seems like a small deed but did that person really have to hold the door for you? They did not, so shouldn't you therefore take the time to say thank you? Yes you should. Personally appreciation should be shown the most not to complete strangers, but the people you surround yourself with on a daily basis, such as loved ones, family and friends. These are the people who are there for you day in and day out. Since these people are always around there seems to be a tendency of appreciating how much they actually do. It is the understanding of the nature or meaning or quality or magnitude of something (http://www.websters-online-dictionary.org/definition/appreciation ). The knowledge you gain from an experience and the understanding you begin to have from that experience is an appreciation. When you are taught a subject such as fine arts eventually you begin to comprehend and come to know something more about them, which means you now have an appreciation of the fine arts. This appreciation is more of thankfulness for gaining knowledge instead of thankfulness to one person for a deed they have done. You are appreciating the fact that you have learned something new that you can now put to use in your life and future

Art appreciation is the understanding of the timeless qualities that characterise all great art, and personally i feel is a subjective matter; what I find aesthetically pleasing may not apply to everyone else. There are many reasons why we value art; because it informs us, because of its expressive quality, and because of its artistic quality. In this case, the latter is being discussed, that good art is good because of aesthetic enjoyment of form, the balance and structure and proportion. Its argued that content is not important, just the formal qualities make it good art, for example Jackson Pollock, his work is based on lines and colours and is valued very highly, therefore content is irellevant.…

They feel grateful for someone in their life who takes the time and energy to respect their thoughts and feelings and respond with feelings of kindness, warmth, and other forms of generosity. When you respect someone, and they respect you, you also need to express gratitude. Respect is an action towards someone, while gratitude is a reaction. For example, when expressing gratitude, it is important to show respect towards the person you are thanking. It has become unfortunate that something as simple as a thank-you note has been slowly forgotten and less prominent to the point that when one is actually received, it almost seems unusual. I believe Randy Pausch was correct when he said, “Showing gratitude is one of the simplest yet most powerful things humans can do for each other.” The thank-you note is old-fashioned, simple and personal at the same time. Nevertheless, the emotion and gratitude that the gesture has carried through the years cannot even begin to be measured. When one receives the timeless gift of a thank-you note or an apology, the same emotions are triggered as they were years before. The thank-you note, as well as an apology, may be slowly forgotten and less prominent. However, it still has not lost its touch with emotion and gratitude. Unfortunately on some occasions, something that is so personal that also carries so much emotion and gratitude is not enough. Sometimes one has to go further than a thank-you note or an apology, and show that they are grateful or remorseful. Sometimes actions speak louder than words.…

When is it appropriate to send a handwritten message? Feeling and showing gratitude in a thoughtful and deliberate way will lead to more good things in your life, and more reasons to be thankful. When you sit down to write a note on pretty stationery that reflects your style, you honor and celebrate the good that has come into your life, and lay the groundwork for more to come your way. When the note is received, your thoughtfulness and appreciation will brighten their day, and probably inspire them to continue to do give in the way that made you grateful in the first place. And, to whom?…

The people who are currently or have once served this country are thanked everyday for their braveness and hard work to keep this country a safe place to be. They have put their life on the line so that they can keep our nation in top shape. Most importantly, they could be anybody you know. People in the military vary races and are family members, friends and even strangers. But to all of us, they will always be thanked for their gratitude toward us. They have tried their hardest to protect our country. Some have lost their lives to serving us. They died, at least knowing, that they have done…

Forgiveness by the World English Dictionary is the “act of forgiving; state of being forgiven, disposition or willingness to forgive”. But what does it really mean? That is my question. Is being able to forgive and not forget the same thing? In my life, I have found that true forgiveness is a quality that separates us from other species and it is what makes us human. In order to truly and sincerely forgive, one must, aside from saying they have forgiven the person, let it go and not hold a grudge against that person. Just, as Mahatma Gandhi once said: “The weak can never forgive. Forgiveness is the attribute of the strong." I believe that holds to be true.…

I think that generosity is underrated. I don't necessarily mean giving people things; it's more than that. Generosity is going out of your way to do something for someone else just because you can, not because you have to. It's what you do for other people without getting anything in return, just to make things easier for them. Besides, doing something that makes someone else feel good will almost always make you feel good…

It’s not so easy being grateful since it’s really hard to be happy with what you already have and realizing how lucky you are to have them. I honestly wasn’t grateful for anything, I thought I never had enough, I always wanted more. Till the day came that reality slapped me across the face and helped me open my eyes to something’s I thought I would never notice. I didn’t learn to be grateful all by myself, I had the help of an amazing friend that and I’m glad she came around because if it was for her, I’d still be the same old ignorant person I used to be.…

Because when that person dies he or she isn’t able to see or experience the love and appreciation for their deeds. Giving thanks is essential in life. One need to show gratitude to everyone that is making a difference in your life no matter how small. Because if it wasn’t for that person you possibly would not be the kind of person you are today. As it is for the sacrifices that person made that you can enjoy the things you do and live the kind of life that you currently lead. On need to think “if it wasn’t for that person what would my life been like? or if that person did not do that what would have happened to me?” it is necessary to ask that kind of questions so you can see the difference or impact someone made in your life and give them thanks while alive. Because while they are alive they can feel appreciated knowing that what they did made a difference and that they did not make the kind of sacrifice for nothing. They need to die knowing that they made a difference. It is only right to say thank you, to appreciate and to show gratitude for anything that someone else do for you, no matter how small the…
