ARE HUMAN GOOD OR EVIL

Are Human Good or Evil? Are they good or are they evil? All people are born selfish and will only seek their own interest and that this selfishness often leads to violence and war. I thought that one supreme ruler should rule all people in order to prevent ruckus. On the other hand I believe that the natural state of humans was one of peace and harmony. I thought that democracy was a reflection of our basic needs and that it was the only way to have fairness and equality. As I look into society today, I see many types of people. There are people from many ethnic cultures with different religions, and beliefs. Society today is very diverse, and that is why I truly cannot believe that people are either good or evil, because people have both of these traits.

The good and evil that you see don't even exist in reality, at least not outside of the mind that believes in them. They are only judgments passed by the individual from their own unique perspective. What one person sees as bad or evil may seem to be the only logical thing to do from some other perspective. The ideas of both good and evil are point of view specific. This is why people like bush and bin laden are either loved or hated. Bush was seen as good by people who shared his fear based thought system. Those who have a compassionate concern for all of mankind often saw him as evil. Bin laden is much the same. He is a villain in much of the western world, but he is somewhat of a celebrated pop star on the Middle East. There are T-shirt shops that sell items with his picture as though he was Jesus. It all depends on your point of view or perspective.

To sum it all up good is the name we give to people who do things that we think we like. Evil is the name we give to people who do the things that we don’t like. This is of course based solely on our particular point of view. Love and blessings. There is 1 more thing to consider, we may not know what

Various religions define good and evil in various ways. However, one thing is certain. Since our society has existed, good and evil have also been in existence and many religions see them as two sides of the same coin. Some religions see them as counterparts, one of which focuses on promotion of happiness and the other on everything evil or all that is contrary to happiness. Every religion and mythology define them in its own way and they find representation in various forms like demons and angels in Christianity and Devas and Danavas in Hinduism. But the concept of good and evil has always been there and in old times people considered everything that made them unhappy evil - even diseases - and everything that made them happy good.…

Throughout the course of ones’ life, one encounters various forms of good and evil consistently. Often, examples of good and evil are not clearly defined, and this leads to difficulty in defining the distinction between the two. To be able to find the difference between the two terms, one must understand what each label really means. According to Google’s dictionary, good is defined as having virtue, righteousness, high morality, and integrity. On the contrary, evil is defined as pertaining to immorality, malevolence, and dishonorable actions. Although there are widely accepted definitions of good and evil, the final decision is up to the person facing the situation. In East of Eden, John Steinbeck…

Many philosophers, such as John Locke and Thomas Hobbes, have discussed over the years if he human race is naturally good or evil. People than choice their side of the argument, one side believing that humans have a basically good nature that is corrupted by society, while the other side believes that humans have a bad nature that is kept in check by society. As John Locke believes that the human race is good, it is reasonable to accept as true because we are born neutral, with free will, and fear of a higher power.…

Goodness is self-righteous: evil is purposeful. Seems rather counterintuitive doesn’t it? But what truly is good and what truly is evil, or are the two even separate entities to begin with? After all, good and evil is all hinged upon perspective, viewpoint is the key. Can something so obscured by opinions really be quantified? So where do monsters fall then? Who are the monsters? Why is our society obsessed with such monsters both in reality and fiction tales? The answer is rather simple: since we cannot define what good and evil is and we presume monsters fall into the spectrum of evil, we write about them, mold them into what we believe they should be to fulfill our desire for a definitive ideal of good and…

Firstly, we must understand what is meant by ‘good’ well good is that which is morally right. With God it is said in the bible “oh give thanks to the lord, for he is good; for His loving-kindness is everlasting (Psalms), another way is the 10 commandments which shows God setting the standard of what is morally right and wrong. Another way of showing of how ‘God is good’ is by creation in genesis 1 and 2 which shows God either creating the world or how he is crafting everything, also in the bible of how God has preformed miracles and in todays society.…

    253) As humans there are things that we can deem good and right in our eyes but God has made it clear that even our good deeds are as “filthy rags” (Isaiah 64:6). Good and evil cannot be viewed through the lens of what we deem good because our opinions mean nothing.…

Good and evil are polar opposites, yet one cannot exist without the other. To understand this intricate relationship, one must have a clear understanding on what exactly good and evil are. These two are not always so black and white, but good can be defined as acting agreeably with societical and personal values. Evil can be defined as going against those values. However, as societies and humans differ, so do their moral codes. What is seen as good in one society or time may be seen as evil in another. Two more factors to consider are intentions and actions. They are two separate entities. Actions are seen, and judged, by everyone else, but intentions are known only by the doer. This is why there is no clear-cut line between good and evil.…

Good and evil are clearly defined but actions themselves may not be so easily defined. Robert Louis Stevenson gives a very literal take on this idea in his novella The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. Robert Louis Stevenson masterfully creates an investigation into the human consciousness with relatable characters and visual details of London that seem to capture the moral state of Dr. Jekyll more than the city. The story revolves around Harry Jekyll who splits his personalities into two very literal personifications of good and evil, Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, respectively. Harry Jekyll’s two personalities are polar opposites so their actions should reflect that. Though on careful observation, his personalities seem to represent the moral ambiguity of reason and desire more than good and evil.…

For example, in Mary Shelly novel, Frankenstein, the creature tells us that “is man, indeed, at once so powerful, so virtuous, and magnificent, yet so vicious and base? He appears at one time a mere scion of the evil principle and at another as all that can be conceived of noble and godlike.” He is questioning the existence of good and evil in all men. How can a person be good and bad at the same time? In the novel Frankenstein by Mary Shelly, the creature experience and proves how both good and evil exists in man.…

To me the world is separated into good and evil. The good is basically the straight mind. For example someone that helps someone out with his or her homework is doing an act of kindness, which is labeled as a good person. Also for example some one that respects others like the right-handed twin is good. The evil is the crooked minded. Like if someone is a murderer like the left-handed twin or hurts any body's feelings in any way that person is evil.…
