There are two perspectives on this topic, with it or against it. Harp seals are overcrowding and lowering the population of fish in the Canadian waters, this leads to unemployment in many fish industries. There is an animal chain that has to be balanced, by having too many seals they overpopulate and jump the chain, their meat is a great source of omega 3 and 6, their pelts are water resistant and in many cases do not cause allergies, so the hunting sounds pretty beneficial. It’s the most regulated hunt of its kind & the population is large enough to sustain the hunting. There are 9.5 million harp seals and the hunting of seal pups has reduced the global seal population by two-thirds, but there are many other different ways to fix the problem…

Compulsory voting would help citizens to become further educated about voting. In accordance to the George Mason University citizens with a lower education or are of a younger age, have a lower percentage of voter turnout(Doc. B). There are a few restrictions on voting, which include age, citizenship, and in some states weather you’re a convicted felon. I believe that it is unfair that some states make it so felons can’t vote. I really believe felons should be allowed to vote simply because everyone makes mistakes, and some felons have to rejoin society eventually.…

The ability to choose the politicians who run our government is the very principle that this nation was founded on. During this election year, more and more people are being urged to vote. This raises the question of whether those people are exercising their civil liberty or taking advantage of a privilege. Though some may consider it the latter, voting is a guaranteed right because it is directly promised to us by the constitution and further reinforced by state law.…

In this great nation, we are given the power of choice through a democracy. Whether that choice be for our next president, congressman, state representative, and in some states judges, our voices are heard through a vote we cast on a ballot. Not only does our vote determine how our government will continue to run, it can change the way we live our lives. When it comes to judges, however, the process can go one of three ways. They are either appointed by an executive member of the state, which must be approved by the state senate, they can go through a retention election, or they can run in an election like other officials run for office. With that knowledge, some people believe that judges should only be appointed, while others believe that…

In the first article “Voters Are Ready to Punish Pro-Gun Politicians. There’s Just One Problem” by George Zornick talks about where the candidates stand on the topic of guns during the races. It is believed that the gun control issue would be a big factor during the race. Voters want to know where it is that the both candidates, Kelly Ayotte and Marco Rubio, stand on. It mentions how 76 percent of the voters in Florida believe that Rubio actually “supports banning people on the terror lists from buying guns” (Zornick). Another 69 percent believe or are unsure whether or not he “supports background checks on gun sales” (Zornick). By making voting mandatory it would be causing those who are eligible to vote become educated on the issues and be informed on what is going on in the government system. Mandatory voting should also be implemented because it will force more people to vote. Getting more people to vote would lead to a more true representation to what the people want in their government system. Mandatory voting would force those who are younger or less educated who are not voting, to vote. With more people voting elections would show the beliefs of everyone who is able to vote and not just those who are willing to go out and vote. By getting more people to vote the ideas of the minority groups would start to be seen and heard in the government and the issues would be addressed. I believe that by making voting mandatory in the United States, it will lead to more people having an understanding on the issues, a better representation of minorities in voting, and a more accurate voting system and voting turn…
