Argumentative Essay: American Idol
Argumentative Essay The American Television show American Idol is a well-known entertaining program by many viewers across the nation. Castings are held every year in several different cities for thousands of people to get a chance at stardom. There are essentially 3-4 judges that get to decide whether contestants move on after auditions or are immediately given a No for an answer. The past judges have been celebrities such as: Simon Cowell, Randy Jackson, Mariah Carey, Jennifer Lopez, Steven Tyler, Paula Abdul, among others. But the question here is, is this show really worth the yearly showing? The show has been continually broadcasted for 13 consecutive seasons, it seems as though it’s time to give it a break. Perhaps the show needs to begin playing every other year or …show more content…
Sometimes it is seen that there are racial discrimination with the contestants every year. The top winners have mostly been of the white race. Looking back at the past seasons the winning contestants are rarely black, Asian, or Hispanic. The name “American” should most definitely entitle everyone as a whole: African American, Indian American, Asian American, and others such as Mexican American. It makes sense that talent has a lot to do with the ending results but it should consist of equality and not of prejudice.
The last, and most disappointing reason that this show is irrelevant and should be cancelled is by the fact that the judges over the past years have been fairly unprofessional and very rude. It breaks my heart to see people being laughed at for having little or no singing talent, particularly on national television, whether it be real or just for publicity, it is incredible what humans can do in return for money. This show has more downs than it has ups, and from the loss of ratings this year it seems it should definitely be the

I believe that the Presidential Election of 2000 was illegitimate. The reason is because there were 175,000 declared uncountable ballots that were either dimpled or hanging Chads (1). Additionally, if these votes were hand counted, I believe that Al Gore would have been ahead and would have won the state of Florida. Additionally, the state of Florida had a purge list of 20,000 US citizens that were unable to vote (1). For example, if a Florida citizen had the same name as a convicted felon, and/or initials, the list captured their name and automatically placed it on the purge list. Because of this list, many people were turned away at the polls on election day. In the state of Florida, there are 67 counties and 18 of those counties chose…

In my opinion, these talent shows also make big business on corrupt foundations. Have you ever voted for a contestant of your choice, out of your own pocket? There is really no point. What good is voting for someone who has probably little or no chance of winning? The majority of these talent shows contain staged acts and prearranged winners. People are already fixed to win.…

X-factor is a show that it advertised for anyone who themselves capable of singing to be able to put that over-confidence to the test and be shoved into the spotlight in front of an old welsh man who has never performed in music, a man from an unsustainable boy band, a girl from an ex-rap group and a girl from a now split up girl band. See a pattern here? They all failed the music industry.…

I chose to use the 2012 Presidential General Election, because I remember this election the most detailed. The candidates running for the democratic side were Barack Obama for president and Joe Biden for vice president. Running for the republican side were Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan. The presidential candidates for the libertarian party were Gary Johnson and his vice presidential candidate James Gary. The overall winner(s) of the 2012 Presidential election was/were President Barak Obama and Vice President Joe Biden.…

Argumentative Essay It all started in a 2016 NFL preseason game with the San Francisco 49ers. Quietly, Colin Kaepernick kneeled at our flag instead of standing and showing respect. This started a trend, where lots of men started to kneel at the anthem. This is not okay, because, kneeling for the National Anthem is disrespectful to the flag, it is causing more tension in our country, and you can do this movement in a better way.…

Indeed, service learning does serve for a well-rounded education. Especially while in college, service learning can familiarize students with companies and professionals in their chosen fields of study in their communities. I am in school to earn a Bachelors Degree in Information Technology. I would love to be immersed into a service learning program to not only gain experience in my field, but to complete a project within my community with companies that I may look to for a job upon graduation. As the article states, these students "achieve personal growth and develop a sense of civic-mindedness while addressing a community need." This type of civic engagement not only offers career preparation, but a chance to become more knowledgeable of the interaction they could have in their communities. People can look forward to this service learning and find some reward in doing it. The article goes on to say that colleges who offer service learning are seeing a spike in interest that was not present before. Many medical degrees require many observation hours for the purpose of "on-the-job learning." Why should this type of learning and experience not be shifted to other degree options in colleges nationally? Service Learning enhances formal education.…
