I’m Antonio Jones, just another student at the high school. I personally think that giving money to charity is a great idea. It’s a good way to spend and also share your money with people who don’t have much or none. Just for the simple fact that there are people all over the world that are starving. It would be okay if the school’s treasury could give 250$ to each or give 500$ to both, but they can’t.…
The topic of this argumentative essay is whether the United States should keep the penny or stop the production and distribution of it. My claim is yes, we should stop the production of the penny. My reasons being that pennies are a waste of space(Jeff Sommer), it costs more to produce them than what they are worth(Jeff Sommer), and with pennies gone, retail sales will be rounded up or down(Jeff Sommer).…

The Fourth Amendment protects citizens from unreasonable searches and seizures; however, it does not guarantee against all searches and seizures if there is reasonable doubt. Searches are determined on two important interests. The first is the intrusion on the individual’s Fourth Amendment Rights; the second includes legitimate government interests such as national security. What constitutes a reasonable suspicion? Where must a public official draw the line? How should one address any “gray area” that might arise?…
n the sports world people often do not acknowledge female sports as much as men's sports. Women sports are newer and hence the reason for them not getting the recognition they deserve. But the sports world is starting to see how women's sports can be just as interesting and exciting as men's sports can be. I am going to show you some discrepancies between women and men's sports. Women and men's sports should each have equal opportunities.…
What is the best solution to a more successful future? This question is in the minds of many students and parents. In my opinion, I think that attending a public school is a better solution than attending a private school. This choice is affected greatly by the overall performance, capabilities of the student and the financial budget of the parent. There are advantages and disadvantages of both private and public schools.…
Social Networking or the use of specific websites or applications to interact with other users is one of the many key and driving factors today in our world. We find ourselves lost for many minutes or possibly hours at a time on any particular app or website. Looking deeper into the issue of social networking and its impact on our life, I highly doubt we have accomplished anything at all. A very smart man once said, “Time is money.” If that quote is true do we find ourselves in the twenty first century wasting money on pictures of people we don’t even know and moments we were not a part of?…
From fire to light bulbs, and pagers to smart-phones, humans have always sought progress. The average person can agree that most new things are for the better. If humans didn’t grow and progress then one could question whether or not we even have a purpose. One thing that humans have lacked the necessary progression in is the place that homosexuals have in society. Same-sex marriage has recently begun to be legalized by several states. At this point 13 states allow same-sex marriage. The fact that the other 37 cannot accept same-sex marriage state makes me feel embarrassed to be human. Some argue that they cannot accept homosexuals as being equal to heterosexual people. Some argue that marriage is between a man and a woman only, because it has always been defined that way. This definition should evolve, the same way everything else does over time. Some argue that same-sex marriage would threaten Christianity and violate its teachings. Our country was built upon Christianity, and some believe that biblical morals should have a strong role in the government. The separation of church and state should undoubtedly apply to this issue. Same-sex marriage should be legalized because it would promote equality, social stability, and help boost the economy.…
Collectively, americans buy millions of gallons of gas each day, about 385 million gallons per day in 2015("U.S. Energy Information Administration”). Electric cars may be the solution for that problem, you don't have to fill the tank, you don't have to worry about gas mileage, and your gas bill will be zero. Many believe that electric cars can solve all the problems, and help the environment and economy in the process, but could electric cars have a dark side nobody thinks about?…
The legalization of marijuana is a current growing issue in British Columbia (BC). Marijuana, which comes from the cannabis sativa (or hemp) plant, has been used for ten thousand years and will continue to be used for a very long time. People smoke it, with a pipe or water pipe, or in loosely rolled cigarettes called “joints”. It is also brewed with tea and mixed with cakes and brownies. Marijuana is so popular with the public that it has developed many aliases, such as weed, ganja, grass, Marry Jane, pot, and over two hundred other names. Some effects from marijuana include dry mouth, dry throat, increased heart rate, impaired coordination and balance, delayed reaction time, and diminished short-term memory. Being in such high demand, marijuana is, by far, the world’s most commonly used illicit drug (American Council for Drug Education, 1999, 1). The use of marijuana is outlawed, even when more harmful drugs like tobacco are legal. The government spends millions of dollars to enforce the control of the use and trafficking of marijuana, but with no results. The government should be making money from the marijuana that is grown on its soil. The legalization of marijuana in British Columbia is crucial.…
“We Should Cherish Our Children’s Freedom to Think” is written by Kie Ho and expresses his belief of the education in the US. Throughout the article he argues that the American school system “is not perfect, but it is a great deal better than any other” (Ho, 2007, p. 114). His arguments are reflected through his thoughts and experiences but are weakened by vague evidence.…
Hazing in American Fraternities should be illegal and should incur strict penalties. Society is ignorant to the severity of hazing within American fraternities. "Many of the rites of passage, those rituals of growing up... are in the form of such comic, practical joke affairs[,] which we ignore [believing that] they possess no deeper significance... For in them we ritualize and dramatize attitudes which contradict and often embarrass the sacred values which we proclaim through our solemn ceremonies". (On Initiations Rites and Power)…
In our current state as a community, children are often taught to only achieve sole success and to benefit themselves. What I suggest is that there are activities or classes integrated into the academic curriculum in schools to show the next generation what they can do to help their community prosper and how they can go about doing these things. School sponsored events that allow students to receive addition credit or some other type of positive reinforcement for the completion of volunteer work is just one of many ways this vision can be achieved.…
