If colleges were to pay athletes there would be no fair way to distribute the money. Athletes perform their sport at different levels of ability and for various lengths of time. In addition, not every player is able to compete in a game. Problems would arise about the athlete not playing which would not allow for him/her to receive the money they deserve. The first issue about this problem is that some people believe that athletes should be paid based on an open market system. This idea of an open market system would allow for supply and demand to come into play. In addition, a school would be able to pay their scouted athlete based on the money that comes in because of their ability. However, The payment would vary depending on the market along with the deals that each athlete has with the school. The second issue is about the colleges because not every college can afford the players they want to recruit. In 2013 the NCAA had an investigation on the economic stability of Division 1 sport programs. This study showed that out of 288 Division 1 schools only 23 were running their programs in a profitable way. This means that only those 23 schools had the money to pay a college athlete. In our society, any business not profiting from anything is likely not hiring, and there is no idea…

For many college athletes, the lure of playing pro sports is intoxicating. Dreams of fancy cars, luxurious homes, tailor-made suits, voluptuous women, and the mental images of a crowded stadium chanting their name is enough for any collegiate athlete to think about abandoning their education for a chance at stardom. When the dreams are solidified with million dollar contracts, think immediately is replaced by impulse. Left behind in the frenzy is the much needed college education that no one seems to care about any more. "Should players be paid to play " (Dalton)? Its one of the biggest questions in the sports world right now and some people think that they should be paid to play but some would disagree with that. Football players think that they should be paid because they basically work for the university which takes time from them getting a real job (Connor). Division 1 football players shouldn’t be paid because they already get scholarship money, It wouldn’t be fair to other students and athletes, and College Football is not a job it's an extracurricular activity.…

So most people know how hard college athletes work, as in workouts, school, and playing their sport aggressive. They’re so busy doing these things, that they don’t have time to get a job, so how is it they get money to buy what they need? College football should think about the rules of the NCAA another way. The NFL makes football players wait three years after graduating high school before entering the draft (Bayless). With such a tight hold on players from the NCAA, means no income for players in that time frame. Outside of room, board, and tuition players should be able to receive payment of some sort. Scholarships looks really great to the outside eye, but scholarships in the market today isn’t worth the same as it was in past decades.…

Over the past decades, what has continued to be one of the most debatable issues in the world of sports is whether or not college football players should get paid. My honest opinion is football that players should receive a certain proportion of money because of the service that college athletes provide to the institution they attend. In addition, they should be rewarded in a reasonable manner after putting their bodies out on the line, bringing in a tremendous amount of money, it will help with the football athletes to begin creating a sense of financial awareness, and finally it will attract more talented athletes.…

Imagine this: you are in the military force, you risk your life on a day-to-day basis for our country's freedom. If you survive fighting, you sleep on an uncomfortable, rock hard bed and eat nauseating food. You work your tail off, yet you actually make less than the average American does yearly. Now, take into perspective, perhaps a professional boxer: they may risk their lives, but it's for our entertainment, not for our safety. When they are done wrestling, they go back to their five star hotels and eat gourmet food. They train, and yes, they may have worked hard to get to where they are, but they're out here making millions per fight, which is way more than what the average American makes. Look closer, should an entertainer really get paid such a profound amount for one fight, rather than those who work to…

The team hasn’t won a playoff game in 10 years, and this origination traded up for Robert Griffin III and essentially ruined his career when they rushed him back from a knee injury and he hasn’t been the same since. One would think that with all of this being sad the team wouldn’t have a lot said about them, I mean, what’s the point the team is mediocre and they fall apart every year. This football team is one of the most talked about team for one big reason, their team name. The Washington Redskins. People all over America and the world are consumed with watching athletes perform in their various sports. Both male and female athletes compete at such incredible levels that require physical talent and drive. Professional athletes are known to get paid salaries that reflect their talent and abilities. Regardless of gender, professional athletes are drafted to receive professional pay. However, equal pay for male and female athletes with the same credentials does not occur today. There is a belief that male athletes are worth more than female athletes and are better at promoting themselves. Also, women salaries are lower because of their gender and are not based on their performance. Although audiences seem more excited watching men sports, this does not mean men should get paid more. Men should not be paid more than female athletes who have similar talent and credentials.…
