Some of these stars are essentially well known celebrities, yet they make the same amount of money as a newborn. This is what Division 1 football players deal with during their times at school. This issue has become a well-known argument, with many attempts by different groups in support of the players receiving a salary. This isn’t the first time that this has come up before, but it seems to have more steam every time it comes up in a conversation. In the article titled “College players deserve pay for play,” Rod Gilmore makes his case clear; it’s time for a change in college football. Since college sports originated, the athletes have been considered amateurs that receive benefits through scholarships. Recently, college football has become a multi billion dollar industry, and controversy about whether or not players should get paid has risen from it. Through factually supported claims, clever attacks at the system in place, and intelligent and reasonable requests, Gilmore presents a convincing argument to persuade readers to support college football players being paid.…

Over the past decades, what has continued to be one of the most debatable issues in the world of sports is whether or not college football players should get paid. My honest opinion is football that players should receive a certain proportion of money because of the service that college athletes provide to the institution they attend. In addition, they should be rewarded in a reasonable manner after putting their bodies out on the line, bringing in a tremendous amount of money, it will help with the football athletes to begin creating a sense of financial awareness, and finally it will attract more talented athletes.…

College athletes have a very busy schedule when they finished classes and practice, they have very little free time. During those free time, they sleep or do schoolwork. Student athletes are required to take a minimum of twelve credit hours each semester and they have to pass at least nine credit hours. With these rules, the athletes are spending many of hours of studying or going to class. After studying and going to their classes, they have to go to practice. Going to practice takes up about four to seven hours a day. After a long day, the athletes only have a few couple of hours for them to have some down time like watching Netflix or sleeping. These athletes are also college students who are not getting paid for their commitments. They have to find time to put work in. When athletes are looking for a job, they are very limited to only have a couple of hours a day to work. A large number of jobs want their employees to be available to work on the weekends, this tough for an athlete to look for a job because they are never available on weekends because they are traveling with the team to…

Imagine this: you are in the military force, you risk your life on a day-to-day basis for our country's freedom. If you survive fighting, you sleep on an uncomfortable, rock hard bed and eat nauseating food. You work your tail off, yet you actually make less than the average American does yearly. Now, take into perspective, perhaps a professional boxer: they may risk their lives, but it's for our entertainment, not for our safety. When they are done wrestling, they go back to their five star hotels and eat gourmet food. They train, and yes, they may have worked hard to get to where they are, but they're out here making millions per fight, which is way more than what the average American makes. Look closer, should an entertainer really get paid such a profound amount for one fight, rather than those who work to…

College football is played by teams of student athletes fielded by colleges, universities, and military academies. College football is a pastime used to promote competition. It is by no means a profession. Professional football is one’s main paid occupation, while college football is an entirely different activity that does not deserve annual salary. A paid salary for college footballers would cause a lot of controversy and isn’t necessary. College football players should not receive an annual salary for their time playing for a college team.…

In recent years the topic of college football players being paid has been widely discussed, but in reality the fact that this is even a discussion is just ridiculous. College football isn't a job, it is an extracurricular activity students can take part in while in college. Behind this common idea is college football players already are being seen as more privileged and that is not fair to other students and paying college football players will increase that perception. Also if the college football players were paid there must be an organized plan in terms of the pay structure it would it be fairly determined in terms of how to pay the football players and seeing if certain players get paid more than others. Most importantly is the immaturity…
