In this growing world of technology, almost everyone owns a smartphone. While most people don't mind young kids having smartphones, some people still believe that smartphones are harmful and should not be used or owned by children. Sooner or later, in the near future, everyone might be using smartphones and kids as young as two or five might be using them. Smartphones are one of the single greatest and most helpful devices you can have in your lifetime. With better technology coming soon, the question if young kids should be able to own their own smartphones is an important question. Smartphones can benefit people socially and can keep you in touch with people. I believe that kids should own smartphones as long as they are older than nine. While many people disagree with me, I will explain in the following paragraphs, why kids over the age of nine should be able to own smartphones.
One of the reasons why smartphones are important and should be owned by children is because it can help you socially. Socializing is an important part of every person’s life. Smartphones can make socializing extremely easy and can make it more fun. Although many people and children can benefit socially from smartphones, it isn’t socially necessary for a little kid to have a smartphone. Many social media apps also have age limits that prohibits children too young of age from using their app. While socializing and using social media can be good, at the same time, it can distract people easily and can cause many accidents. Car drivers often lose control of their vehicle when texting or using social media. For users walking while using social media, the user can easily get tripped, bumped into walls, and fall down from the stairs. Social media can be a constant distraction and a major reason of procrastination. Still, it is an important part of life, and children aged about nine should start getting ready to use these apps in life.
