Argumentative Essay On Child Support

Is it a weapon, a right, a privilege or a punishment? There are a lot of ways that child support is acquired and a lot of mixed feelings toward it. There are people who feel that child support is a punishment due to the fact that if it is owed, the person requesting it may seem to have the upper hand and it does not matter what the paying party may have to say in front of a judge. In almost every situation, the paying party is wrong, no matter what the situation is. In some cases, they own backed child support, and if they are unable to pay, their wages may be garnished, they may be placed in jail, have warrants for their arrest, have their licenses suspended, and the list goes on. This is not a very adult way to handle a situation that should be managed by adults. Does the party that is employing all of these efforts to “catch the other up” realize that they still will not get the funds that they believe are entitled to them if the payee is in jail, cannot drive or is being fired from their job? People in general believe that it reduces child poverty and improves children’s performance in school. In addition, it is an important way that parents demonstrate love for their children.
