The FARC (Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia) is the most powerful terrorist group in Colombia. It was formed in 1964 by the two communist leaders Manuel Marulanda (known as Tirofijo), and Jacobo Arenas. The mission of this group was to fight against social and economical inequalities. They have used sabotage and terrorism to generate fear in the citizens of this country. The FARC has also been involved with the drug cartel, issue that has caused the death of millions of Colombians, and it has also influenced its political instability. Right now they dominate 40% of the Colombian territory. This issue that has affected Colombia for more than fifty years, is coming to the end with the peace talks made by the Colombian president Juan Manuel Santos, or that is what they want us to think. In colombia everything is about who you know and if you have the right contacts. People that are born in poverty have little to no chance of getting a job or having a better lifestyle than that one that their parents had. How are those people not going to live with anger and resentment? If it's not stealing, how are they going to sustain their families if there is no other way of making money? This is why there is so much violence in Colombia. So signing a contract with the rebels is not going to end this war, because the difference between social classes is not going to disappear. If that amount of money was used more wisely like building community restaurants where people with low income can eat, building schools and providing a better education, and offering more jobs there wouldn’t be so much resentment between the Colombian population and a lot of violence could be
