Argumentative Essay On Generalized Anxiety
Those who do not suffer from medically diagnosed anxiety struggle to grasp how difficult it is for an individual. Medically diagnosed anxiety is not the same thing as typical anxiety; it makes normal life challenging at almost every moment of the day. There are branches of anxiety disorders such as panic disorders, phobias, social, and generalized anxiety. I will focus more towards generalized anxiety because it is the common denominator in the other specific anxiety disorders. By understanding and empathizing with those who suffer from this condition will lead to making their work environment, family life, and social life more inclusive. It is challenging for those who do not experience something to fully have an understanding of how much of an influence it can have on someone’s life. In general, people struggle to see from outside perspectives because we are constantly trapped in our own shoes. Sadly, this is due to ignorance as well as lack of empathy. It makes us uncomfortable to try to see things from someone else point of view, so we avoid doing that at all costs. By enlightening as many people as possible, we can come together to ease this disorder instead of ignoring it. These scholars state, “You are emotionally unstable in a sense which can cloud your judgment” (Mogg and Williams, 1). Both of these experts explain that anxiety can cause you to think in a way you normally would not if anxiety were not a factor. Peter Salmon explains, “… your physical goals and healthy are negatively affected due to anxiety” (Salmon, 1). Anxiety can prevent you from achieving your physical goals as well as affect your energy level and performance.
