Introduction:
When we hear marijuana, what comes first to our mind? Is it good or bad? In our very conservative country, marijuana has been viewed negatively because of incidents of drug abuse and many cases of violence related to the use of it. We cannot blame anyone for this stigma because it is true that marijuana, when abused, has detrimental effects to our body especially the brain. Marijuana gives this pleasurable feeling like you are in cloud nine, and this is what makes people want to use it, and get addicted to it. In everyday living, problems arise and stress is everywhere, people continually look for something that will help them cope in the stressors of life. Some smoke cigarette, some drink and some smoke pot; whatever it is that helps us get away from our problems even for a short while attract us very much. In our country and other countries, alcohol and cigarettes are all legally distributed and so we have no problem accessing them, but marijuana is not, and this is what the Drug Policy Alliance in the US, tries to work on.
