It seems as if every time the TV is turned on a new ex-football player is seen suing the NFL due to concussions. It is a fact that football players have a much greater chance of receiving neurological injuries. In Tanya Lewis’ article, “Retired NFL Players Show 'Pronounced' Brain Abnormalities”; she shows the reader just exactly how football can affect the player now and later in life. For example, she states that retired football players are 20 times more likely to develop Alzheimer’s or other memory loss related illnesses than the average non-football playing person (Lewis).
