for it to be added to our society. There are three reasons I decided to outline here; America would be safer, people could defend themselves from violent harm, and it is our right, as americans citizens, to carry guns. There should be no way the government can take our guns and ability to carry them. First is, America would be safer. According to a recently released Gallup poll, 56 percent of americans believe that more people carrying would result in a safer nation. This is jurasticly higher than 10 years ago,(26%) this may have something to do with all of the more recent terrorist attacks and mass shootings. Someone carrying a gun could very easily stop shootings and other terrible events. Another piece of evidence is when several states such as Florida and Texas, passed laws allowing people to carry a concealed weapon, the homicide rates dropped significantly. In both of these states the rates were split in half like when you switch to sprint. This is likely because a criminal or serial killer can see their victim is armed. Like any human,(which they aren’t completely human) the self-preservation instinct checks in and they run away from their soon to be shooter. (JustFacts) Another piece of evidence to support this reason is, in a survey conducted in 1994(a long time ago, but just wait) it was found that nearly 500,000 times per year, people were using guns to force criminals away from their homes. This may be quite a few years ago, but now that concealed carry laws have been passed recently, criminals have an even higher chance of getting forced away or even shot. This would be because if more people are carrying, there are more guns in the homes of americans that are at the ready for use. Another reason that concealed carry of guns should be allowed is, people could protect themselves and those around them from serious, violent, harm. According to a survey of 11 state prisons, across the United States, 34 percent of male felons had been ‘scared’ off, injured, shot at or captured of by someone carrying a gun, 40 percent decided not to commit a crime because they, “knew or believed that the victim was carrying a gun,” and 69 percent of the criminals personally, new another criminal that had been ‘scared’ off, shot at, injured or captured by an armed victim. Again this has to do with criminals having a self preservation mode when they realize they could be shot at. This survey was also taken several years before many CCW laws came into effect, therefore more people have guns right now so those number would probably be much higher. The next piece of information about CCW isn’t really about CCW, but the places you can’t have a concealed weapon. According to CrimeReasearch.org, 98.4 percent of mass shootings happen in places where people aren’t legally allowed to have a gun. The other 1.6 percent, 1.6 percent, that is less than 2, happend in places where guns are allowed. That means 2 out of 100 shootings happen in areas where gun are allowed. That is miniscule amount compared to the 98 shootings that happen in illegal gun zones. This is likely because a criminal who wants to do damage, would go to the place where nobody can stop him. If places like collages allowed CCW, there may be more murders, but the mass shooting amounts would probably drop significantly. In the past 5 years there have been over 140 mass killings and 900 deaths due to mass killings. Allowing CCW in ‘NO WEAPONS’ areas would definitely change this number, and in a good way. The last piece of info to support this reason is, “The world is a bad place as much as we don’t want to admit it.” This is what Jeff Lahman, a serious gun and hunting enthusiast, says. Though he may support my claim, it is true. No matter what us humans try, we will always have terrible people in the world. The third reason that CCW should be allowed is, it is actually our right as american citizens to carry guns.
The second amendment says, ”A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.” notice it says militia. The definition of militia is,”A military force that is raised from the civil population to supplement a regular army in an emergency.” if our guns and rights to carry them were taken away, our government would be ignoring the thing that made us a country. Our founding fathers couldn’t have created America, without first creating a militia to fend off England. Another piece of information is that every single one of the 50 states, of the United States of America, has passed either a shall-issue or may-issue law both allowing a citizen of america to gain possession of a gun and have it concealed on their body. This pretty much already makes it a lot of work to get rid of CCW, and that isn’t including other laws. The final piece of evidence for this reason come from a quote from one of our founding fathers, Benjamin Franklin, saying,”When government fears the people, there is liberty. When the people fear the government, there is tyranny.” That doesn’t really need much explaining. If the government were to take our weapons, our society would be ruled by tyrants. While some may argue that concealed weapons should not be legal because criminals can get their hands on them, it is much more true that if law-abiding citizen have weapons, they can protect themselves and those around them. Again, the survey referenced above shows that over 500,000 people used a weapon to scare off a criminal trying to injure them. These numbers would go up in a good way, because more people would have guns to scare people away, if they already have one at the ready for concealed
carry. In the end people will almost always argue about whether we should have CCW. I will always believe that we should be allowed to carry concealed weapons and many more people will too, while others may think differently. Concealed carry of guns should be allowed because people have the right to it, and they can protect themselves others, and America itself. With CCW, the United states of America would be a safer place. Isn't it unimaginable to think about being able to anywhere in America and not have to worry about you or your loved ones not coming home? You could have your mind on other important things and a lot less concern in everything you do. Wouldn’t that be nice?
