Arguments Against Mandatory Service

The question of mandatory service has been asked by many americans time and again. While many see it as a patriotic duty to your country others see it as contridictory to the very idea of patriotism and freedom. One frequentley expressed opinion on the side for mandatory service is that it builds a sense of national pride and being apart of something greater than ones self, however those who oppose this idea would argue quite the oppisite, that someone does not gain a sense of national pride from being forced to join the service rather a willingness to join on thier own. As history has shown us time and again people tend to develope a deep loathing for thier country when they feel are being forced into something or having thier freedoms stripped away from them.
Also worth mentioning is that if mandatory service were enacted, these jobs would most likey be under performed due to lack of will. Most everyone, including myself, can recall a time in thier life where they did not complete a job properly because they felt they did not have a choice in the matter.
