The US Should Serve In The Military
Personally I don’t believe that the U.S. should make citizens serve in the military. I believe this because people should be able to choose what they want to do in life and what they want to study and what they want to make of themselves. Often people don’t even have the physical strength or abilities to join the military, or the mental state to serve. Yes, I know that our country needs protection but we need other things too.

If people don’t have any idea on what they want to do with their life, then yes, I believe that it would be a good idea for that person to join the military. They would have an education and they eventually may find something that they want to do as a job after they leave the military. On the other hand people may

Have you ever taken the time to think about how you feel about the draft? Do you feel it is the government’s right to tell you to serve in the military? In times of war there is always the possibility of a draft. Drafting for military purpose has dated back to the Thirteen Colonies and could still be used today. Although it has been in existence for a very long time the draft has been used in 5 major wars: the Civil War, World War I, World War II, the Korean War and again for the Vietnam War.…

If the draft is brought back, the military would obviously never be weak in terms of numbers. Also, despite the increased wage towards the support of troops, cost would be preserved from the savings of other budgets being cut. And last but not least, it is the duty of a U.S. citizen to defend their country when in need. The reinstatement of the draft would be a great benefit towards the country of the United States of America. This has created a large debate over a military draft. This topic of discussion has been contemplated and deliberated since military forces were created. There are two sides, those for and those against. The debate over the draft is endless. Many realistic points can be made from either side of the argument over the draft, but the most logical and simple solution is to reinstate the…

I do not agree with the reinstitution of a military draft. In 1973 the military draft was lifted in the United States and with good reason. The United States should not rely on a draft to fill military vacancies but rely on recruitment. It is true that the military offers incentives and luxuries that some civilians could not afford otherwise such as food, shelter, and medical care. However, they are just that, incentives. The military is an option and should remain that way. Many enlist for different reasons, some with economical reasons, others with strong political urges, but they enlist out of their own desires, beliefs, and more importantly, free will. Some see the military as a way of life; others see it as the only way to educate themselves in a society where education is valued so highly. With rising tuition costs, many enlist in the reserves as a guarantee for their degree. College is costly and even with the aid of tuition assistance and can leave a graduate drowning in debt. These are all choices all college bound 18-25 year olds make and some just do not have the luxury of choosing.…

Do you think we need a military draft? I think that we do not need a military draft. There are no good reasons why we should possibly throw are life away when we don't want to. There are many good reasons against a military draft as you will read later, but first I will explain what a military draft is in case you don't know. A military draft is a way to fill in the areas where volunteering doesn't fill and when you get a license you have a number that goes with you and during a draft there will be random numbers chosen and if your number is called then you will have to serve in the military, but for only for one term unless you want to stay longer.…

To begin, the military is a wonderful career to think about. For starters you’re able to serve your country and able to explorer the world with these selected job opportunities, which is great and also exciding. Gabriel Adams explains that “When you join the military you will have access to the highest quality of training and opportunities for a lifetime career in a field you enjoy. You will have base pay, a variety of discounts, support for tuition in your chosen field and full medical insurance coverage.” (Oct 17, 2008). With every single minute in the service you will find that you can take the information you gained and take it further beyond you could imagine.…

I do not believe that the United States should institute in the practice of requiring people to serve in the military. While it would be very loyal to the United States, I think people should have the rights to choose their own career and not be forced into something they have no interest in. Also with so many people being forced into the military for one or more years, other jobs would not have people to fill up positions, important jobs such as police officers, doctors, teachers, or even people in entertainment. Which would really change up the economy.…

As of today, the military has a volunteer service only as its profile. As stated in a Farlex dictionary a military volunteer is “a person who freely enlists for service”. Any american citizen over 18 can volunteer for any branch regardless of gender, ethic, or religion. Other than soldiers, doctors, lawyers, scientists and a wide range of other careers are recruited and used in the military. The volunteer system supports the Declaration of Independence's phrase of guaranteeing citizens the right to “life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness” by giving Americans the freedom of choice to chose to serve the country, or live about freely. The majority of America doesn't like the idea of having a draft introduced again, since it doesn’t exactly fit the phrase of “life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness”, in all aspects of citizens trying to achieve the “American Dream”. Though the majority of citizens is…

We Should Not Reinstate the Draft I would never have come to think that I would need the military draft to be reinstated but I think it will be beneficial to our country. It's been years since they have wanted or needed a draft, but in view of the United States being attacked on September 11, 2001, I feel our country must be prepared and prepared to defend itself. If being prepared means reinstating the draft, a compulsory summons for military service, then I think they ought to think about this a reasonable proposal. I think the tragic events of September 11 will evoke most people to agree with me. Since September 11 they have seen a surge of patriotism in this country that appeared hidden for plenty of years. I am so glad patriotism was not…

“… When young women wonder how high they can rise in our military, they can look at General Ann Dunwoody and her four hard earned stars. They can see that it's real. When they ask what kind of jobs they can do, they can look to women like all of you who've played just about every kind of role imaginable. And when they ask whether they can cut it -- whether they have what it takes to succeed -- all they have to do is to look at your lives, to look into your lives and to look at the careers that you've developed that inspire us all," the US First Lady Michelle Obama stated addressing women in combat (Moving History Forward). I greatly agree to her statement because women have not been given combat roles in the military. Women have served in the United States army but in the roles not given to men. I highly support the lifting of the ban on women in military. President Barrack Obama has oversaw the lifting of the ban to ensure more women serve in the military. Women are fit enough to serve in combat roles that are demanding and of specialty. I will address the reasons why women…

In some countries, every young person must serve two years of military service. The general public in the United States feels that we should allow that in our country while other people disagree. A two-year period of military service should be mandatory for all young adults, but making the devotion to serving that time in the military should be each individual’s decision. Personally, young adults should be able to live their lives of how they want it, and other mature people should be able to volunteer for the military. Each individual should be able to make their own choices in life and not be forced to do something they strongly disagree with. Granting opportunities to young and mature people will help the military enlist a mature recruit, strengthen the military clan, and attract even more people to join in the military. We should be able to grant choices to the young and mature adults and respect their decision.…

The draft would be a good way to divide the burden of war so it doesn’t solely affect the people who really want to aid their country. When people feel like the draft is unconstitutional, the draft doesn’t deprive them rights, rather than giving them the right to “defend their country”.(Say Registration or Draft Not Needed 1979) Many people believe that war is bad, and I can agree, but being drafted doesn’t necessarily mean going immediately to war, you could be drafted in a time of no major conflicts and assist in a safe yet vital role in the military as a doctor, nurse or something as simple as a cook to be able to prepare food for hungry troops. For those that volunteer rather than being drafted, carry all the burden on their shoulders while…

First of all, the military has always been very appealing to me. As a young boy, the military has always fascinated me. I grew up watching movies like Saving Private Ryan. I also played various military video games such as Medal of Honor and Call of Duty. I love what the military does and wanted to be a part of the big picture. I enjoy every last bit of the military. I am probably one of the few people who would actually like basic training. It amazes me how the military draws diverse people in from all over the country. The particular branch I would like to join would be the Army. It will always be an option for me to join.…

Such as being emotionally and physically ready for the military, a lot of people aren't at that stage yet to be in the military, which is why teens should be able to choose whether or not they want to be in the military; instead of having the government choose for them. Furthermore, we would need to consider the people with medical conditions, such as depression or anxiety which affect them a lot. There is a lot to consider when selecting people to be in the military, and the process takes a long time. Therefore we should select specific people because not everybody that's coming out of high school is ready for the military. People need to be physically prepared and have some experience, and not a lot of people coming out of high school have that experience.…
