Art Analysis: Night Forage By Jane Barrow
PAPER ASSIGNMENT #1—ART EXHIBITION
I have only been to an art gallery/show maybe less than five times in my life. However, the few times I did visit my mind was in awe due of all the magnificent pieces. From an art show in a park to the Louvre in Paris I always managed to find several pieces I absolutely loved. Sadly, I feel as if I might have set my expectations too high, as I had imagined there to be more pieces in this exhibition. I also wished that the exhibit would have been more harmonious but it being different pieces from many artist I understood as to why everything was a little scattered. I find myself drawn to pieces that tend to be bigger and brighter and I did not really find that piece. That is not to say I did not find other eye-catching works of art.
While wondering around trying to find something like shapes that held within them three different objects. I believe this sculpture to be along the lines of spatial media as it leaned more along the lines of a

Night Forage was made using “Oil on Panel.” I really like the analogous colors, such as, the cool blue she used in the sky as well as the dark greens and browns she used to portray the grass. The colors she used were also local colors and represented what we usually associate the sky and field of grass to look like. The lines she used were very whimsical. The texture used in the piece was also intriguing and kept the picture from being “bland.” Something that caught my eye and confused me a little was the right side of the oil painting. There is a clear vertical line that divides the picture. It is only about 1/10 of the picture though that it is shaded green and it doesn’t make any sense to me. This little piece of the picture makes me wonder if somehow this was a mistake and not intentional for her artwork. However, for the most part I find the piece to be harmonious rather than

The painting Red Hot, created by Marsha Clements, is a realist painting of two roses. These two roses are purposed to represent the changes that occur when two people becoming more intimate with one another. As our relations with others grows stronger we reveal things that we don’t readily exhibit to the rest of the world. Clements does this through the use of contrasting colors and lines from her brush strokes that directs the viewers’ attention to the contrast.…

For my visual analysis assignment I chose to go visit the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. It has been an extremely long time since I last visited a museum. I took my twelve year old son with me to explore what the museum had to offer. We found the art to be very interesting, educational and unique. There were so many beautiful pieces throughout the museum that it was difficult trying to decide which one I wanted to base my visual analysis on.…

The Mummy of Priest Thothirdes is laid vertically fully wrapped in cloth with approximate measurements of 16 x 10 1/4 x 61 in. Actually it is a re-cloth of the Thothirdes the bandages were preserved and reused after scientific research. The Coffin of Thothirdes surface of the coffin box is covered with a plain, open weave fabric of linen, visible in some areas below the linen layer is a reddish-brown, clay-like material. The face figure on the coffin has no beard but it’s a male subject. The exterior of the coffin box is decorated with vertical hieroglyph inscriptions. There are illustrations that seem to tell of story of Thothirdes as a mummy. The interior design of the coffin depicts a woman figure with hieroglyphs below. The coffin bottom is made from several pieces of wood that have been joined together with wooden pins. The Coffin box approximate size is, 8 11/16 x 2 7/8 x 27 3/16 in. with the Coffin Lid approximately, 9 7/16 x 7 7/8 x 27 9/16 in.…

The body of the figure is long and oval shaped. The body of the sculpture is the largest part of the figure. The shoulders are rounded and there is a long oval indentation that resembles a neckline for a dress. Where the neckline is exposed, there is a layer that covers the figures breasts and appears to be similar to an undergarment for the dress that the sculpture is wearing. On the right side of the…

The artwork that I have chosen to critique is by an American artist named Robert Motherwell, (1915 -1991). The particular piece I have chosen is called "Open" # 150 in black and cream 1970 acrylic on canvas 69 x 204 1/4 inches at the Modern Museum. This artwork is a symmetrical balanced abstract painting that is about 41 years old and is horizontal in its organization and is made up of one neutral color cream rectangle inside at the top of one large intense black color rectangle. Counting a total of 7 actual lines, three straight vertical and four straight horizontal lines. The large rectangle is an extremely intense black color which contrasts dramatically with the off white (cream) rectangle. The colors in the painting are brilliant and extremely appealing to the eye. It was the first artwork that I came across and focused the…

The art exhibit was a very nice change from what I have previously done for enrichment. I was able to expose myself to art, which I have never previously done. It was my first time at an art museum, and seeing famous artwork in person. Not only was I fortunate enough to see this exhibition while it was at the Museum of Fine Arts, I was able to see other amazing artwork that was on display from local artists. In all, I was grateful that I chose to do something different for a change and see a small part of the immense amount of art that is out there. I definitely will go down to the Museum again next time there is a major exhibit to expose myself to other forms of…

Personally , I thought that Ding Ling 's story , Sketches from the `Cattle Shed , was very interesting . It is not often that someone has a story to tell that is so interesting and unique . Also , it is not often that someone like her comes along to tell their story . First of all , there is the fact that she is a female writer from China during the mid-to-late 1900 's . That , all by itself , makes her contribution to literature even more exciting . Also , there is the fact that he Chinese government tried so hard to suppress her works , but they still have been released for us to view , and that all by itself is a very surprising and wonderful thing to have happened…

I went to the North Carolina Museum of Art on April 8th, a beautiful and sunny day. Being around the museum conjured a sense of nostalgia to my middle school days when I took a field trip to the museum. Since that last visit I have gained a better understanding about art and what goes into every piece of work. I have also gained more experience, back then I did not know how to shade properly and did not know a thing about composition. Now, I have a greater appreciation for every stroke of a brush and color applied. The reason I chose the North Carolina Museum of Art was solely to re-experience the art with my new artistic eye. While walking through the museum, I searched for that one piece of art that would catch my eye and inspire me to talk…

Although all the art exhibits were simply amazing the one that stood out the most to be was Where the Fate Leads Us by Brenda Atwood Pinardi and Candance Walters. I feel as if this one caught my eye for a numerous of reasons, one being that it was the most original one there in my opinion. This art was not like the simple oil and pastel painting I was expecting to see; instead it was actual material constructed together to give off a certain message to those who viewed it.…

I had invited exhibition in 789 Art Space, while my final semester in college. I worked with curator and other artists, and we were fascinated how we can bring our concepts into the art works in the exhibition. In addition, I took the course of ‘‘graduation production’’ and I had a graduate show in senior year. My team and I had planed ‘‘PENG-LAI-XIAN-DAO’’(May,2015) exhibition which a context focus on traditional Taiwanese myths and post-colonialism. In addition, my art work ‘‘LYCKA’’ has presented in the exhibition, and focus on historical event and happiness of consumer life which associate traditional measurement system(魯班尺) to IKEA company. In my opinion, it is important for exhibition experience to advance my art works, and developing awareness of context and critical theories.…

    What Art Means to Me

By definition, art is the expression or application of human creative skill and imagination, typically in a visual form such as painting or sculpture, producing works to be appreciated primarily for their beauty or emotional power. In simpler terms, art is what we find to be pleasing to our senses. In my opinion, art does not have a true definition. Its definition is different for all of us. To me, art is a way for one to express themselves. Each piece of art means something different for every one of us. Just because we don’t understand a particular piece does not mean that it’s not considered art in society. We can all appreciate a nice photograph or painting, but we may disagree on whether or not it is art. I see art in nature, photography, drawings and even in the things we see in every day life. Just because something is considered art, does not necessarily that we as an individual consider it art for ourselves. We may not find beauty in certain pieces of art that everyone else may like. For example, while a painting such as Picasso’s Seated Bather is considered art, I do not see it as beautiful. I can respect it as a work of art in general, but it does not speak to me, nor do I find it to be beautiful.…
