It seems as if the artist created proportions for each focus of the piece. The mountains, sky and people and animals each take up 1/3rd of the painting. By proportioning the piece, the artist was able to help spectators focus on certain aspect of the painting. Since there is so many different objects to observe, it is easy to become lost in the painting. Since the animals and people are drawn towards the front of the painting and any other aspect is further back, the area to focus on is the one with the people and animals. Another key factor in knowing that this is the area to focus on, is the tree framing them. The spotted tree is mostly visible from the right side of the piece. By creating organization, Forest could create as abstract of a painting as he wanted. The three different proportions were a great start in creating organization. Also, how crowded the painting is creates organization because of the consistency it holds. If the painting was partially crowded while other parts were spacious, the dynamic of the piece would not flow as smoothly as it does now. Since each part of the piece is so full, there is a sense of organized chaos. While the piece is proportioned correctly, the actual symmetry of the paining is not as clear. The balance between objects is not consistent with each side of the painting. For example, the back portion of hills and sky is clustered together, but the front half of the painting is more spaced out. Neither the animals nor the people are very close together. Although it is natural for people not to be closeted tighter, it creates less symmetry between the top and bottom half of the
