ART VALUE
In today’s modern world, there is probably greater access to Art than ever before.Nevertheless, the function of Art remains an area of debate with some believing that it provides meaning and purpose to our lives, whilst others feel that it is only a momentary escape from more important issues. My own belief is that Art is fundamental to what makes us human.

A first point to consider is that the expression of our lives through Art is one of the few things that separates human from animals. Man is the only creature who attempts to reflect his own life through Art forms such as painting. Furthermore, the fact that Art is often to be taken to mean the work of geniuses such as Picasso does not necessarily mean that Art is only a characteristic of modern man. Ancient cave paintings show that even in primitive times, the expression of the world around was important to humans. In my opinion, this is a strong argument for showing how vital Art is to man.

Some people believe that Art is just a brief distraction from normality. However, one of the major uses of Art is to lift people’s spirits. The songs of slaves provide an example of how music can help people cope with pain. Similarly, paintings and sculptures are often used to remember historical events, keeping them alive in the culture. I believe this reflects a fundamental need to express our existence through Art.

To summarize, Art is something which has been a part of human history for thousands of years and helps people survive difficult timesand express their existence. Thus, it is my view that Art is much more than just entertainment, it is one of the defining characteristics of being human.

Pablo Picasso once said, “The purpose of art is washing the dust of daily life off our souls.” This phrase was illogical to me. According to me, the purpose of art was simply decoration. Visiting the El Paso Museum of Art made me realize I was completely wrong. When I entered the building, the anxiety, stress, and pressure a college student carries, all disappeared, like a cloud driven by the wind. Exceptional collections such as the Hal Marcus/Lyric Modern, The Immaculate Conception, and the Renaissance/Baroque and Rococo, were displayed at the museum. Each collection expressed unique feelings, transmitted by pure observation. My soul was momentarily cleaned from the anger and greed of the real world, Picasso was right, I felt at home.…

As time has passed, the many events that make up world history have transformed society and subsequently the purpose of art. The birth of art occurred around 25,000 years ago and between that time and now, many historical events had caused the purpose of art to change throughout different eras. These different events prove to impact the art of the eras that they occur in, and often many events will happen and art will constantly be changing. We've had a fantastic eight weeks of delving into the study of the human experience. The use of art, music, literature, history, language, philosophy, and religion to document our experience in the world is something man has always done, and it's something we still do today. Understanding our human experience allows us to feel connected to those that came before us and those that are yet to come. As we've learned about the meaning, history, societal roles, and disciplines of each art form we've come to realize that they are connected because of our human experience, regardless of the time period, the people, or the culture, our experiences and the way we attempt to explain them connect us all. Art is important to our culture, mostly because it is a part of which that makes our culture. It tells our human history and gives us the ideas of what is important to humans in that time period. These arts tell us history, in a similar way to what writing tells us, from oral history. Without many of the artworks that we now have, we would not have a clear look at what all happened.…

Art expresses your sense of beauty; discover the nature perception; for satisfaction or to promote emotions. In addition, art provides people with learning experience that enhances their minds, heart, and bodies. Art can send a powerful message and express deep truths or thoughts. The world around us is all shaped by beauty. By the music we make and listen in a car, or at a concert or in our rooms or anywhere, the architecture of our buildings that make up cities, homes, and what is now considered “art,” everything we encounter basically in our everyday lives shapes the world we live in. Art also had the ability to redeem life by finding beauty in the worst, and darkest of times. That means that art can even help us accept death by showing it in a light and not as a dark and scary and a process that all life has to go through. Art helps us try and see that clearer and not from just one perspective. Art gives our human life meaning and can help make it worthwhile. Through the changing world and perspective of beautiful art, we are losing the value of beauty and because of it we might lose the meaning of life with it. Our new technology and fast going pace of life, and changing views that over time we will lose the true meaning of…
