Articulation In Willow Grove
On Monday April 2nd the Boone county band came and performed 3 songs:willow grove, Kentucky 1800, and among the clouds, but overall I believe that the whole band deserved a distinguished rating overall. I think this is way because two out of the three songs did very well even though it had its issues.the first song willow grove had many issues at the beginning with tempo but was eventually fixed at the cota of the song so I gave it a apprentice rating.in the second piece Kentucky 1800 had some minor problems like the snare slowly starting slowly in beginning and having tempo problems but was fixed more quickly than willow grove. Finally in among the clouds in the beginning the bells started off on the wrong beat so and it kept on playing and eventually was fixed, also the flutes / vibes felt rushed. …show more content…
It's a muddy start because the band played at two different tempos which caused the trumpets to not be heard at all. The articulation in willow grove wasn't great so it could be better, also the low brass slowed down while playing. The crash cymbal was a beat a head while the suspended cymbal wasn’t loud enough.Overall willow grove sounded great overall but it had major flaws that could be fixed like all the instruments playing and staying in unison.

Kentucky 1800 deserved an rating because even though it had some issues with tempo like willow grove, but however it was fixed more quickly. Kentucky 1800 was played with great sound but however the snare was slow to start and the melody felt rushed. The triangle wasn't loud as it should have and the suspended symbol wasn't heard at all. The crash symbol was on the correct tempo but however some instruments wasn't able to find beat 1 till later in the music. Finally kentucky 1800 got a distinglish rating because of how well it sounded overall and even though it had some mistakes it was quickly

The sound design is most evident in the beginning when Casey is opening the box. You can hear the iconic sounds of legos smashing together, as well as the very satisfying sounds of a metal key hitting the wood box. The rustling of paper as he is looking through all of the memories was also nice and clear. The sound of the typewriter writing was also very well done throughout the entire piece. Lastly, the score really complements the action on screen. It has an inspiring, curious, and sad mood all at the same time. Even more so, the score gets out of the way of the dialogue when it needs to, so that you can focus on the story.…

A good electric guitar player is part of the group as well. They also at one point had a woman with a nice singing voice perform with them. She sing several songs with them. Next, I found out why they had the Bad New Jazz & Blues Orchestra again at the festival. In the band, one member acted as their conductor. Several individuals play saxophone. A couple of individuals plays horns. Three trumbones are involve, a woman sings well in the band and unlike Space Train had key board player in it. The trumpet players were good and I am not what you call a fan of them. In fact, I like the singing of this woman better than the singer in Space Train. It was very well organized orchestra. People in the audience must have agree because a couple…

The English who founded Jamestown, Virginia, the first permanent settlement, came with the intent of finding gold and getting rich by trading with the Indians. As a result of the settler's eagerness for money, they failed to think about the location on which they chose to settle, the swamp. This geographic condition started the colony off to a negative start. The southern colonies did however, have a warm climate, swamps, and thick rich soil. None of the original settlers of the Southern colonies were use to working; therefore they had no food to eat. When John Smith, a key leader in keeping Virginia alive, said to his colonists "No work, no food the colonists took control and began a new life. As a result of the location of Jamestown, many…

The poem Speaking With Hands written by Luis J. Rodriguez illustrates discrimination that members of the lower class face because of their lower class status. The narrator grows up in a poor neighborhood where there are virtually no stores for him or his family to shop at. Only small corner stores were available for shopping. Unfortunately, the owners of these corner stores tended to overcharge for, “cheaper goods than what existed/in other parts of town,” as the narrator stated. From the narrator’s statement, the reader is now informed that the shopkeepers do charge more money for goods that are usually inexpensive. In addition to being overcharged, the narrator and his family had nowhere else to shop at which made it so they were forced to…

On Friday, December 6th, I attended the Sac State Vocal Jazz Ensembles. The show began with special guests Christian Brothers Vocal Jazz. This young group of singers were extremely talented for their age. They held their harmonies and expressed their talents in each piece they performed. It was quite impressive and heartwarming because these students looked so into the music that it showed the passion they have for singing and vocal jazz. Following these talented young students, the Sac State Jazz Singers came on stage and did an excellent job at their pieces as well. I appreciated the song choices and arrangements for each piece. They definitely showed the hard work and practice they put into each piece and I overly enjoyed the show they put on. With all of the songs from both groups, dynamics, harmonies, unison, scatting, and different rhythms, especially in 4/4 time signature, were portrayed throughout.…

The kooks brought a lot more soul into the song compared to the other two versions in my opinion. The way Lena Horne sang the song made it a good song if your goal is to fall asleep. When I listen to music I desire to listen to something that has either meaningful lyrics, catchy, or both. I could not understand all the lyrics while she was sing which is another reason I do not like her version. I looked up the lyrics and found out that they are really depressing to read. I think that the way she sang it and the way the music emphasized a slow tempo supported that of a depressing song however this does not mean that the quality of the song was as high as it could be. I do not like how Royal Crown Revue covered the song either because I think that their efforts to use a higher tempo with a saxophone as the main instrument gives a false representation of the lyrics. There is also a lack of instruments as I only heard the symbols and snare drums with the saxophone. I think if a song is going to have more instruments then it should be played and sung a different way.…

    Galop Critique

It was overzealous in triplet runs and ascending chromatic scales, which proved to be distasteful despite the short length of the song. I expected an exciting piece that would take me on a journey through the life of a cowboy on a galloping horse, but instead, it was overkill. The tempo of Galop well suited the percussion-like manner of horse hooves but by the end, I felt as if Galop was beating a dead horse. It was very apparent to me that the composer of this piece was lacking creativity and seemed to have carelessly scribbled notes on…

Thiol groups are important to protein folding and forming disulphide bonds that are essential to protein structure. Determining the number of thiol groups in a protein is important in determining the tertiary structure of the protein. The ovalbumin is the experiment was purified from egg white using centrifugation and ammonium sulphate precipitation and then the thiol groups identified using DTNB and spectroscopy. The ovalbumin was found to have one thiol group; from this we were also to infer that DNTB alkylates thiolgroups; whereas SDS keeps proteins denatured.…

4-H is a program set up by the United States Department of Agriculture originally in rural areas to help young people become productive citizens by instructing them in useful skills, community service, and personal development. To me 4-h is not only that, but it is a lifestyle. 4h is not something a person can just chose to do one day and become the best, they would have to have the passion and commitment for the lifestyle. The 4h clover is the main symbol for 4-H. The four H’s represent the words head, heart, hands, and health. This coincides with the 4h pledge which states, “I pledge my head to clearer thinking, my heart to greater loyalty, my hands to larger service, and my health to better living, for my club, my community, my country and my world.” This pledge is a constant reminder in my life that everything I do is affecting everyone around me.…
