Ashfall Waste Monologue
The Ashfall Waste was, let’s just say not for me. So it came as a surprise to nobody when I left. They’re all so angry and over-the-top there, and I simply don’t fit in! With my admittedly calm, and shy nature, I never liked the place.

I could’ve chosen any Flight, so I’m not sure, why, out of all of them, I’d go to Lightning. Perhaps it was because of how close it was? Either way, that’s where I went and I’m not going back to Fire any time soon.

Of course, I probably should have waited until my egg hatched to go, but I was urgent, alright? You see, the Flamecaller was mad because of a lost dominance battle, and well… you know how that can be.

So, before any further damage was done (the Flamecaller doesn’t like me much), I packed up and flew away. By packed up, I mean I grabbed my egg and left.

Maybe on Sunday? If I'm lucky the egg I purchase may be a female, and it could have eggs with Hephaestus.

Am I thinking too far ahead? I think the loneliness is getting to me more than I thought.

003 - New Member of the Family

I never knew eggs could be so expensive! Then again, a baby is a priceless thing. Nevertheless, in my rapid attempt to gain treasure, I succeeded. Of course, I have less than 500 treasure now... But let's focus on the positive.

So, I went off to the Auction House, and purchased a Shadow egg. When it hatched it was a young tundra. He actually looked quite fitting for a Shadow dragon! The only problem: he's a he. Okay, that sounds mean.

The thing is, I was hoping that I could carry on my generation by getting a female who could mate with Hephaestus. Perhaps I'll get another egg next month, and it will be female?

I haven't named him yet, because I take time to name. Names are a powerful thing, as my mother always said! Like Hephaestus, I'm going to wait a while before naming him. It needs to be something special, you know,

Everett Gray couldn’t tell you the last time he could properly breathe. Even during hockey competitions, there had always been an issue where he couldn’t quite get the amount of air that he really needed to keep going. Sweat would run down his cold skin, as he pulled at the collar of his uniform. His chest would heave, yet all the air seemed to get stuck in his throat, turning into a suffocating lump. He felt his phone vibrating in his pocket, but he refused to make a move to look at the messages being sent.…

Chairman of the Federal Communications Committee Newton Minow gave his speech “Vast Wasteland” that drives the point of discussion with an insistent fervor, accentuating the need for the people to guide the direction of television programming to support the business, allowing it to not only survive, but strive. This claim is buttressed by initially establishing his credibility to help express his desire to protect the public, while also working to persuade the audience by sprouting claims that would be seen as truth; Minow also goes on to persuade the audience to formulate their own opinions by use of question-like statements to veer them in the proper direction, then appealing to the audience’s emotions directly with paradigms that would create an array of notions to gain more support from his audience; he then uses strong language to highlight the importance of the situation at hand, using these words to help him achieve a sense of reason with the audience. Minow’s intention of the speech was to open the eyes of the audience to finally see that television business was truly a “vast wasteland” and that it was not…

Christopher Hitchens’ New Atheist novel, “God is Not Great: How Religion Poisons Everything” written in 2007, highlights everything that is wrong with religion, and how its effects are detrimental to society. Hitchens critiques Christianity, Judaism, and even Hinduism and Buddhism, for their atrocities and blasphemous beliefs and makes a very valid point as to why many individuals have turned away from religion. Though quite persuasive in some cases, other times the novel makes points that seem weak or trivial in regards to the “evilness” of religion. Each chapter of Hitchens’ book emphasizes a certain wrongdoing religion has committed, or how religion has poisoned society.…

In one of the rare instances that Sean Penn directs a film, he sets out to deliver a view-changing experience and does just that. The philosophical views and the conflict of moral fibres between the protagonist and his family and friends, are the basis of Into the Wild - a recount of the true story of Christopher McCandless - and certainly sparked an interest in me, as I began to question my own perspective on life.…
