5. Implement any changes to service user i.e. Changes to care plan, health issues.
Aiii; Give two reasons why it is important to observe the reactions of an individual using the service when you are communicating with them
1. To see if the service user understood what you have said i.e. Body language and facial expressions to clarify that they have understood.
2. To see if the service user was happy about what was said by seeing the service user’s reaction i.e. anger frustration as this may suggest safeguarding issues (abuse).
Aiv; Explain why it is important to find out about an individual’s;
A) Communication and language needs; to make sure their needs are being met; the correct aid is available to enable this such as hearing aid, pen paper, etc.
B) Wishes and preferences; misunderstood/mistakes could be prevented, you have a better insight about the individuals (religious and cultural beliefs etc) therefore ensuring effective communication.
Av; Explain how good communication can have a positive effect on the way a social care worker interacts with;
A) Colleagues; The environment will be pleasant and positive one to work within if colleagues communicate regularly therefore promoting good team work within the social care setting.
B) Individuals using the service and carers; Confidence and independence will be created/enhanced between the individuals and carer due to good communication and involving the individual.
