Athletic Training Career Essay
I attended the career fair event in the Carson Center with the intent to talk to people willing to employ Athletic Trainers. I had been looking forward to it, and soon realized it was not what I thought it would be. I had previously looked into a few of the participant’s companies and found a few that might be worth talking to. However, this number was few and far between for only Athletic Training jobs. Some of the people I talked to were more interested in me if I had a Pre-Physical Therapy track rather than just Athletic Training, such as Common Wealth Health Corporation, Wabash Christian Therapy, and Pro Rehab. Considering I have not yet decided if I wanted to just go into Physical Therapy or just Athletic Training yet. Meeting these people felt like I was almost incompetent with my future degree since I am leaning towards a Master’s in Athletic Training. As the interaction at the event continued, I felt more and more uncomfortable with my surroundings, simply because it seemed like my degree just simply did not fit with the event. I did not feel as obligated to talk to people because I knew they only saw that I was an Athletic Training major as of now, rather than someone looking into a doctorate in the …show more content…

I already have outside sources who weren’t at the event that I plan to contact, and I may just stick with them. They are direct leads into the Professional leagues, and that seems like a much better use of my time than what happened at the

I interviewed Ben Cleveland, who is the head Athletic Trainer for Oklahoma Baptist University. Athletic Trainers are not technically a field in leadership studies, but this interview was very beneficial to be because I want to be an Athletic Trainer at the high school level. This interview just reassured me that being an Athletic Trainer is truly what I want to do with my life. Before talking about how Ben views leadership, one has to know and understand his background and where he is coming from. Ben is originally from Mobile, Alabama and earned his undergraduate in Science in Athletic Training from the University of Alabama soon after that he obtained a Master’s of Science in Physical Education at Florida State University. Ben started as an assistant athletic trainer at Trevecca Nazarene University for seven years before accepting the job here at Oklahoma Baptist University.…

Sports medicine is a lot more than people think it is. It is not just running out on the football field when someone gets injured and walking them to the sidelines and making sure they are okay, it is not just telling someone not to play a sport for a certain amount of time so that they can let their body take a rest. It is looking into the body and figuring out which muscles and bones cannot handle as much pressure and pain as the others. It is surgery and sometimes crushing people’s dreams of never being able to play their favorite sport again.…

Prior to my interview with Bryce Dreager, I thought that the career in personal training seemed fun and something of my interest. Also, I thought it would be a career where I would at least need my bachelors in science for exercise and wellness. I would really love a job where I could be comfortable and love what I do at the same time and personal training sounded like the perfect fit. Most importantly, I made the assumption that I would have to learn a lot about personal training on my own to be really good at it.…

Having a career in Massage Therapy for the past six years has been a rewarding experience; it has given me that sense of contribution to society and to my community. Having gone through that year in school to get my career going, the experience gave me the confidence to overcome the thinking, that I did not have the time or money to pursue a degree, I now believe that the benefits of a degree will far outweigh any outcome of not having…

For some reason, ever since I began classes in high school, any class that had anything to do with business has always stood out to me. It all began when I took global business my freshmen year. Due to that class and the several other business classes I’ve taken because of it, whenever asked “what I want to be when I grow up?” “business management” has always been the answer. But I’ve also always had a huge passion for sports, both playing and watching. This zeal for sports should be credited to my father, who always took the time to bring me and my sisters to sporting events since we were very young. My intrigue in business combined with my love for sports has got me to chose a career in sports management. Specifically, representing athletes.…

My name is Abigail Amponsem. I am a freshman this year, majoring in either Athletic Training or Sports medicine to eventually become an Athletic trainer or physical therapist. I see Radford University playing a role in my future for several reasons. One of them being that there is no way I can accomplish my goal of becoming an AT or PT without at least a bachelor’s degree and attending Radford University is my way of attaining my bachelor’s degree. Another would be knowing that Radford is an accredited school. Therefore, in the future when I do the numerous internships that I plan on, showing whomever it may concern that I attended Radford would give me a better shot at what I am aiming for. Radford also has a lot of clubs, activities, programs, and staff that will prepare me to accomplish my goal of becoming an AT or PT along with being the best at it. So ultimately, Radford University plays a major role in my future because my dream of becoming the best athletic trainer or physical therapist started when I set my foot on campus.…
