Attention Getter For Persuasive Speech On Tattoos
Intro- Attention Getter--> I’d like to start off by asking you a question. How many of you currently have a tattoo or piercing? How many of you would like to get a tattoo or piercing sometime in the future? Intro--> The truth is that, according to the laws posted by the National Conference of State Legislatures, getting a tattoo or piercing done isn’t a minor’s choice. To get a tattoo or any kind of piercing, even something as normal as an ear piercing, requires parental permission and for parents to be there during the time you’re getting it. Only 2 states allow minors to decide for themselves and get body modifications without parental consent, and those two states are Tennessee and Idaho.

• Katrien Van Straeten says that this issue isn’t dead and that by putting a legal age on it, doesn’t stop teens from getting body modifications done. She says, teens are notorious for “finding a way”.
• Just because you tell a teen no, doesn’t mean theyre going to listen.
• A rebellious teenager set on a tattoo might end up going to some shady place that would be willing to give them an illegal tattoo or piercing for a ridiculous price, only to have it become infected because the artist used cheap equipment or wasn’t following all the regulations to keep it clean.
• Or, I’m sure you’ve heard of friends or classmates taking it into their own hands and piercing themselves.
• Just curiously looking it up, I found tons of different ways to make a cheap and easy tattoo gun using only a needle, a guitar string, an electric toothbrush, and ink from a pen.
• It seems like it would be even more unsafe if teens started taking this approach.

• Each and every person has their own body that belongs to them and only them… so isn’t it our right to decide what we do with our
