Taking a risk to help someone can be a great feeling. Would you stand up for someone if it meant people would dislike you? Atticus, from Harper Lee’s To Kill a Mockingbird said “People generally see what they look for and hear what they listen for.” He knows that people won’t want to believe that tom is innocent but he still tries. Atticus understands hardships and will stand up for anyone who needs it. Everyone in life has to make a sacrifice. In this case Atticus gave up is reputation. The way he took pride in sticking up for a man of color made people call him some awful things but he still did the case. He still fought for Robinson’s freedom.

He would intervene somehow and help out Tom in the end. It’s just what kind of person he is. If he can’t help directly he will find a way to prove a point. The way he trumped the Ewell’s really showed this. He made them repeat everything until they revealed what really happened. They basically gave themselves away without realizing it and that’s just how great Atticus is at what he does. He can make people reveal what they want to keep a secret and he has perfectly mastered this skill. Although, If Atticus was on Ewell’s side there would be a longer case because even though Atticus is supposed to stand for the Ewell’s Atticus would flip around the scene making the truth come out anyways and then making Ewell spill about everything that happened that night.
Atticus Finch is a man that respects everyone as a human being. It doesn’t matter if you have money, what race you are, your background or anything else. If you would need help and you deserve that help he would do it. Just like in the Tom Robinson case. Even though everyone went against him he stayed true to himself and did what no one in that time would have. He was willing to ruin his reputation in the city to help a young man. This proves that he would stand up for
