The disorder auditory-processing, there have been several studies shown on the effects of it in children and how many are affected by it. Kenzie, is a seven year old girl who is strong at heart and a passion for life but she has been showing signs of difficulty following directions and retaining the information given through instructions from her teachers. She showed some frustration that she wasn’t able to understand what the teacher said and had to raise her hand every time the teacher gave an order or explained something in detail and she needed that one on one attention from her teacher all the time. Not only does auditory-processing disorder cause listening difficulties but it causes reading difficulties as well. According to the article, Auditory processing disorder in children with reading disabilities: Effect of audiovisual training, it states that a child who doesn’t develop well developed reading skills for their specific age then it is actually very common in the problem areas of neurobehavioural and in that affecting the children academically. This type of deficit could prevent certain aspects of the child’s academics with learning the differences in the sounding of words and letters which is where children struggle in associating an actual letter shown before them along with the right sound for a word.
