This is what the main character, August, has this means, a dysostosis of the face and lower jaw inherited as an autosomal dominant trait and characterized by bilateral malformations, deformities of the outer and middle ear, and a usually smaller lower jaw”. August face looks like,”His eyes are about an inch below where they should be on his face, almost to halfway down his cheeks. August is mature about how he handles people. One way is, he tries to be mature is he tries to be kind to all. In the text it says,"Hey, is this seat taken?" I looked up, and a girl I never saw before was standing across from my table with a lunch tray full of food. She had long wavy brown hair, and wore a brown T-shirt with a purple peace sign on it. "Uh, no," I said. She put her lunch tray on the table, plopped her backpack on the floor, and sat down across from me.” Second, August holds his head high now. August handles his changes maturely. One reason is that, he had so many surgeries. He could never go to school because he had one like one every two weeks. Another thing is that, he start school for the first time. An example is, when he goes and meets Mr. Tushman for the first time and sees his school. Finally, August dog dies and it’s really hard for him. In the text it says, "What happened?" I asked. "She just started whimpering all of a sudden," said Via, kneeling down next to Mom. I looked down at Mom, who was crying, too. "I'm taking her to the animal hospital downtown," she said. "The taxi's coming to pick me up." "The vet will make her better, right?" I said.
