During these years, I started reading longer books and series books. I remember reading A child called IT by Dave Pelzer. This book brought many emotions to me. It was mainly about a boy who was brutally beaten and starved by his mother who was very tortuous. Many of the “games” this mother did to “it” almost left him dead. This book inspired me to look out for my future students. This child did not get help from any of his teachers. It really opened my eyes to reality and showed me that a situation like this is possible. Till this day, I keep recommending this book. It gave me strong emotions but t was a book that I was not able to put down. The way it was written gave me a full image in my head. Growing up I realized that I was more of a visual learned. I had a very caring English teacher who took the time to focus on me. This teacher went out her way to find books that she knew I would enjoy. Also, she took steps to guide me on how to transfer my thought into paper. At first I did not understand my teachers would try hard to teach us grammar, but now I do. I was learning how to write persuasively and being organized with my thoughts. This was when I knew it just was not all about books, but it was also about the writing. Due to the impact that my English teachers have made, they have inspired me. I want to be the teacher that steps out of the box for her children. A couple of these teachers were afraid of approaching their student’s opinions and feelings. I now believe that students would live up to higher expectations and would become someone more greatly from a class greatly enriches with books.
