Growing up I wasn't exactly an outgoing person, in fact I was quite shy. I keeped things to myself, the reason being was due to my environment. Horcher, my high school coach. Not only did he influence me to become better in sports he pushed me to become the best I can be, but he also advised me to keep up with my studies and give it my best in that aspect as well. I can still recall, every week when we would stay after school to practice on both my reading and writing at the time I wasn't the best,I knew I needed help and I was determined to give it my all since I knew that I needed a hand so I reached out and he helped. He stated “As long as you keep winning us basketball games and keep up with your grades you’ll go places kid”. Those words are still in my head till this day. As a result, we won many games and won a couple dollars for the school. I can certainly say that I am grateful for this man for showing me the power of not giving up and always trying your best.
