Back pain - what can you do yourself

Back pain is a common complaint, and most have had, or will have, back pain sometime in their life. For many, it is a short-term inconvenience that goes by itself. But for some problems may occur frequently and last for long.

In most cases, the cause of the pain is harmless. Most commonly, back pain passes or gets significantly better after one to two weeks.

Symptoms may be sudden or insidious
Often the symptoms begin when the spine is subjected to any strain that a lift or lateral rotation. The pain comes suddenly and can be cutting, stabbing or aching. It may feel as if your back is to go by.

If you must lift should keep it as it should lift close to your body and bend your legs rather than your back. Also avoid turning your back to the side. When sitting it can be nice to have lumbar support, such as a rolled towel or pillow. Avoid sitting on low sofas and chairs. There tend to be generally better to stand or lie down than to sit.

One can often work as usual
Although some works may increase the risk of back pain, it is important to remember that your back does best used. Sick leave is no good treatment for back pain. If you have the opportunity to continue working increases the chances of quickly getting better, even though it hurts. If you have different tasks, there is usually no one can cope with. It's good if you can vary their posture and, for example, stand up sometimes if you usually sit.

Heat and cold can relieve
Heat in the form of heating pad, hot water bottle, a warm shower or a sauna can relieve pain.

Sometimes the cold better relief. One should try it out. For example, one cooling back with an ice pack or a plastic bag with ice cubes which is wrapped in a towel to prevent skin damage. There are also special -Col Pack available in sports shops and
