Background Checks During The Hiring Process: Case Study
Introduction paragraph (why I chose this scenario): This scenario talks about how companies gather information on potential employees during the hiring process. Most companies already have a background check done on the potential employees, which tells the company if you’ve been in trouble with law enforcement. Now, some companies are doing credit checks, which gives them a history of your credit. Some things on your credit are credit cards, mortgage, car loans, etc. I chose this scenario because when I got my first job, as a tutor, I felt like it was an invasion of my privacy to get a background check done every year. Reading this article, has opened my eyes because I know now that companies perform background and credit checks to protect themselves. …show more content…
They are benefited because they know who they are hiring. If a sex offender was trying to get a job as a teacher, the schools’ board wouldn’t know the person isn’t supposed to be around children, unless a background check was performed. This is one example why gathering information through background and credit checks is beneficial to the company.
Society’s opinion paragraph(s): Many people understand the reason companies perform background and credit checks during the hiring process. My thoughts on background and credit checks is that they are helpful to the company.
Likelihood of effect paragraph(s): If all companies and businesses performed background and credit checks, then they would have a better view at the types of people they want to hire. The company will receive the benefit because they will be able to protect themselves from hiring felons. If someone was a felon and seeking employment, they would be harmed because they would not get the job; unless the company accept
