Officer Jane Roberts got pregnant by the FTO, Andrew Tibbets. The FTO is not willing to leave his wife and now will not have anything to do with Officer Jane Roberts. There was a confrontation and Sergeant Williams witnessed it but never mentioned it to either one of them, thinking that they could take care of it themselves. Well, since the FTO now wants nothing to do with Officer Roberts, she went to Sergeant Williams to let him know what was going on between the two of them. She told him that she was pregnant and that the baby was Officer Tibbets. The Sergeant informed her that she would have…
“First DUI conviction can cause your license to be invalidated for up to 2 years. Revocation of your license can also cause you to lose your job, especially if it requires you to drive. Finding someone to drive you all the time is very challenging. You may likewise arrive late for work habitually, feel disappointed, and be less mindful when you at last arrived. Your work conduct may endure, as well.”…
Many school shootings take place when a troubled, confused, or upset student gets pushed over the edge. Bullying, arguing with, or even just bumping into one of these students could turn lethal if the student was carrying a concealed weapon. Many people argue that anyone with a concealed weapons permit is sane enough to not misuse their weapon. On paper that may may be true, but in the real world people change. They go through experiences that could change them and make them into a troubled person. The 1994 Brady Handgun Violence Prevention Act requires gun buyers to complete different background checks. It wasn’t a foolproof system, it had a loophole. Any banned magazine or assault weapon manufactured before the law was put in place…
Criminal defense lawyers are the very people you will call in times of unfortunate incidents such as being arrested or being charged with a crime. Legal advices and representations are what you require during these trying instances.…
Running Head: The issue of background checks should be established as a law which will restrict gun ownership from previous criminals because it will reduce numbers of victims from gun violence.…

I am in agreement with laws in certain states such as Alabama, where a license is required to carry a firearm. The logic of requiring individuals to attend and pass safety classes for handguns is no less important than the classes currently required to obtain a hunting license in the state of Alabama. (AL Online Hunter Safety Course) Unlike the Alabama Driver License program, I believe recertification should be required no less than every five years. I’m not opposed to citizens having the right to own weapons in their home as a right protected under the Second Amendment. But if those citizens wish to carry the protection with them into public, I am not opposed to a testing, safety, and license process. I concur that background checks will not cover all situations, since nothing is a complete fix to the problem. Background checks serve a purpose and filter specific individuals from obtaining a gun. Tracking individuals, and qualifying them to carry their weapons into public is a measure I can…
Fred is drunk and driving his dad’s car. Fred is a 21 year old student at Columbia College. Fred rams into a parked car at 10th and Rogers. Thinking no one saw him; Fred moves his car and parks it on an adjacent lot. He sprints to his dorm room in Miller Hall. A neighbor saw the wreck and Fred running to the dorm. Police are called and they arrive ten minutes after the wreck. The officers see several empty beer cans and a bottle of tequila (half full) in the front seat. The tags are traced to Fred’s dad, who is called by police. Dad says that Fred is a student at Columbia College. Police run Fred's record and determine that he has two prior DWIs within the past five years. The third DWI in 10 years is a felony. Police contact Columbia College security who leads them to Fred’s dorm. Fred is passed out, so security lets them in. The officers smell intoxicants, give Fred some Field Sobriety tests (he fails) and confirm that he was driving the car. Fred is arrested for DWI. It is his third offense, a felony under Missouri law. Fred is given a breath test, which registers at .13 on the scale. During the processing of his arrest paperwork, the officers search Fred’s possessions which he brought to the station, and a small quantity of cocaine is found in Fred’s pocket. Fred is charged with DWI, leaving the scene, and possession of cocaine. What issues do you see? How should they be resolved? (50 points)…
Even though citizens without criminal records have the constitution right to keep and bear firearms, citizens’ rights to carry concealed handguns should come with limitations outside the home. In general, allowing individuals to carry concealed weapons does not benefit both of them, citizens and the public since it is not effective for self-defense and creates more chances for gun violence.…
Have you ever thought a person would be more likely to get or job or judged a person's personality by their skin color/race? This is racial profiling, and it is a major issue we face. Innocent people are being judged wrongly, just because of their race. It is our job to stop racial profiling, but how are people profiling others? Some major examples of this is people unconsciously profiling and how even the police are profiling, sometimes leading to deadly judgments.…
The sex offender registry has been a topic of debates and formal studies since the Minnesota Sex Offender Registration Act was first passed in 1991 (Stevens, n.d.). The use of the sex offender registry has been saving lives of potential victims. Before the registry was enacted, sex offenders who lived in their neighborhood victimized adults and children and no one knew about their prior criminal history. In very public cases, it was brought to light that children were being abducted, sexually assaulted, and finally murdered by sex offenders that should have been registered. Those children could have been kept safe and may still be alive today if the public knew the information about their attackers. Also the surviving victims of sexual abuse…
Background checks would require government databases that keep personal individual information on gun owners, including name, addresses, mental health history, criminal records, and more. More gun control is not needed; education about guns and gun safety is needed to prevent accidental gun deaths. Guns don’t kill people, people kill people and people need more gun education and mental illness screening to prevent massacres. The second Amendment was intended to protect gun ownership of all vigorous men so that they could participate in the militia to keep the peace and defend the country if needed. According to the United States Code, a militia is composed of all able-bodied males at least 17 years of age… under 45 years of age who are, or who have made a declaration of intention to become citizens of the United States who are members of the National Guard. Overall, .many people believe that more gun control laws are not necessary due to the fact that it isn't the gun that kills but the person behind the gun who’s most…
Infact a shooting happened on April 2007 at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, “in which gunman Seung-Hui Cho killed thirty-two people. Just about any adult can go and buy a gun, without showing identification or passing a background check. As a result, Seung-Hui Cho, with a record of mental health problems, was able to open fire on classrooms at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in April 2007, killing and wounding many students and teachers.” Gunman Seung-Hui Cho bought his gun at a gunshow, with no background checks. If firearms were not available to the american public these 32 innocent victims wouldn't have died. The man who was lucky to have survived the shooting investigated the subject himself. He found out that at gun shows you can buy a gun in five minutes, and at a bit of a higher price you can skip the background checks. Every situation where there are armed civilians there are more chances of people…
health illnesses are the issue. Someone who wants a firearm is going to be able to find a way to retrieve a firearm, whether it is illegal or not. Instead of taking citizens’ rights away for a prohibition act that will not keep firearms out of the wrong hands anyways, the government should focus more on what issues cause gun violence.…
