We have recently been assigned to write a letter to a congressmen on a currently used program that dates back to the New Deal, we needed to explain our views on the changes that should or shouldn’t be made to the program of our preference. The program I chose was the Federal Communications Commission, FCC, it focuses on providing reasonable communication regulation throughout the United States by radio, television, wire, satellite, and cable. My opinion on the FCC was positive, I believe it is a great program that will help increase communication in the U.S. for those who did not have access to it prior to being helped. With our technology advancing in speed and structure, it is hard to keep updated on the changes, for some it seems impossible to catch up with all the new innovations that are introduced daily. My letter was sent to Barbara Boxer, she is a democrat and the junior United States senator from California, the reason I chose her was because she was a member of the Environment and Public Works Committee, which focuses on matters relating to the environment and infrastructure. She has had experience working …show more content…
She may respond with her views on the program and what she believes should or shouldn’t be done to it to achieve success for this country and it's citizens. Her main focus will stay on what is successful, the program has been in use since the New Deal and has helped the United States create a very communicative country that keeps in touch at every corner. She may explain the advantages and disadvantages that come with the program being so effective in the everyday lives of Americans. On the contrary the response may be negative, she can say that the program is a waste of time and more prominent arrangements should be made. No matter the response I receive from the letter, I hope to hear an honest

A time when Sonia Sotomayor was determined to give back to her community was when she had to give her speech during her speech competition. She started by talking about the killing of Kiddie Jenaveys and how it took place. After she got off work from her job at a bar late at night around three in the morning, getting home to her apartments in the queens, she parked her car in a nearby parking lot walking through an alley towards her apartment when a stranger appeared in her shadow and frightened her so she ran and he caught up to her and stabbed her in the back as she screamed and cried for help. Several neighbors heard her cries and her struggle as Winston Mosley stabbed her. The windows were shut due to the cold weather, but kiddie kept screaming for help as he stabbed her repeatedly and beat her to shut up and finely raped her. When it was all over the neighbors called the police and they arrived minutes after but Mosley got away that night later caught for a burglary charge and now is faced with life in prison.…

Periodically, as I skim newspaper articles on line or in the local papers for an article that peaks my interest. This week the article that peaked my attention was one wrote by Jennifer Rubio of the Washington Post titled “Trumps campaign turmoil suggests his greatest weakness”. (Robin, paragraph 4) At first I thought hmm this is just another campaign dirty article about Presidential hopeful Donald Trump, but as I read it, I thought deeper about the message the author was trying to convey. This is an article about lack of character, self-respect, weakness, self-actualization and the overall inability to become an example for the American citizens. This article is not just about the Presidential hopeful Mr. Trump, it’s about what is missing in the United States at this time.…
