This article talks about how the government started to help the poor and identified the bills and laws that were created. It also explains how the middle and lower classes are in traps. Barbara Ehrenreich explains, “What I discovered is that in many ways, these jobs are a trap: They pay so little that you cannot accumulate even a couple of hundred dollars to help you make the transition to a better-paying job” (Ehrenreich). Many people end up falling and staying with these simple admission occupations. It’s actually more expensive to be poor in today society. Not being able to make rent or due times on property can kill an already unfortunate person wealth. Then taking out loans with a guarantee high interest rate can end up putting people even farther off which tells us minimum wage jobs are solely not aiding. This is what Barbara had to say, “Minimum-wage jobs are physically demanding, have unpredictable schedules, and pay so meagerly that workers can’t save up enough to move on” (Ehrenreich). As I stated earlier the cycle of poverty leads to the criminalization of the
