Child Poverty In America
The hierarchy of America’s economic status is shaped exactly how it is set up. The top being a small section for affluence, the middle a developed comfortable social class and the bottom is the majority which is lower-class and poverty stricken individuals. There are many factors than can influence why a person is impoverished. Poverty is a globalized disadvantage that stems from circumstances such as birth, the environment one lives in, one’s education level, demographic, and many other causes. Many argue that, to fix poverty one must start within their household. However, I believe that systematic poverty beings upstairs, due to our government's inability to effectively regulate funds through our country which has fallen down on the lower …show more content…
Do you think about children who were so unfortunate to be poor? Well interestingly enough the idea of poverty isn't something that is just placed upon oneself. It is more so unwillfully forced to being born into a detrimental lifestyle. Child poverty denies a child the basic needs to survive, whilst depriving children from having equal opportunities such as education, and the safe and security of a home. A child is brought into this world through its mother and father. Whose sole purpose is to provide financial a security means for one's child. It is said that family structure has an impact on the financial status of a child. A study taken by childrenstrends.org states that 43 percent of children are more likely to end up poor when in a single headed household. A child being born into poverty unfortunately has a higher chance of being abused, discriminated and exploited due to their living conditions. Poverty in my opinion shows a strong relationship with child maltreatment and neglect. Research has proven that poverty in adolescence is said to negatively affect oes cognitive development. Thus, affecting their loss of focus , and higher rates of failure resulting in early drop-out. Along with this a poor environment is said to have a direct effect on a child's behavior and emotional status . As they're said to be involved in delinquent activity, that's later associated with an underdeveloped life as an …show more content…
The functionalist theory illustrates this , by assuming that society’s structures exist because they serve important functions for society’s stability and continuity. Poverty is no exemption because it is apart of our society it is seen to have a function. Which are that, it motivates us to work harder within our everyday life to produce a better life. Poverty is a major issue throughout our country that needs to be changed immediately. We all whether upper, middle or lower class co-exist in the same country. We all live to help one another develop educationally, mentally ,financially. So to live in a country where we shame those who make lower incomes. I view poverty as a disease that needs to be eliminated entirely. And as an evolving society we must realize that until we fix the issues right in our backyards. We will never reach that feeling of self-actualization. Allowing us to always feel broken and insecure and dissatisfied with the lives that we

The reality of poverty is a silent Killer that is ignored by most but by opening our eyes and taking a stand against poverty we can live in a poverty free world. “In addition, the government isn’t doing as much as they should be but in America it’s helping people stay in a home when they lose it all such as president Obama has set an act that provides income support but still there are still 45 million people living in poverty who can’t get access to these benefits” (U.S. Poverty and Inequality). Furthermore, some might say that people living in poverty are in poverty because they chose to be poor. Many rich people said that all poor people should work or look for a job that helps them live better or their lazy to work. “Rich people say that because they realized that every person that is rich has worked hard to be rich, they also realized that if poor people start to work hard like they did they wouldn’t live in poverty” (Counter Argument Poverty). As many people say people are poor because they chose to be poor, rich people think this because all the successful people think that everyone’s life is the same as theirs but it’s not true because when someone is born in poverty they spend most of their life in poverty, and their adult life. “In addition, the cause of…

It is also the sad face of a single mother who doesn’t have enough money to buy clothes for her children.…

In my opinion, poverty is drawn by a line and that line is not invisible or obscured. Either you’re above that line or you are below that line. The definition of poverty is, “the general scarcity or dearth, or the state of one who lacks a certain amount of material possessions or money. It is a multifaceted concept, which includes social, economic, and political elements. Poverty seems to be chronic or temporary but most of the time it is closely related to inequality” (Helpful Dictionary). Poverty is just around the corner for millions of Americans. We have the ability to change it but I’m not sure if we have the aspiration or inspiration. Visiting different places in the United States, you start to notice little things about poverty,…

The United States populates over 325 million people. Of these 325 million, 13.5 percent of them are under the poverty threshold, which is about 42.3 million people. These people are lacking of basic requirements for living such as money, clothes, a home, food, and even education. Without their basic requirements for living it makes it harder for them to get out of their current situation. Even though the government have tried to step in and solve this problem, the government programs that are set up are not enough. There should be more solutions to poverty, because without the help of others most families have trouble with their living condition, the negative views on the people that are in need , and the destiny that awaits for those suffering…
