Barriers To Evidence-Based Practice

Evidenced-based practice is using the best research evidence to make decisions about patient care, and the research should be clinically relevant and includes outcomes and effectiveness of patient care (Sewell, 2016). However barriers are affecting the adoption of evidence-based nursing practice, some of these barriers are resistant to change by nursing leaders due to institutional culture, lack of knowledge and skills in evidenced based practice, and lack of motivation. Healthcare is always changing, some nurses went to school when the evidence-based practice was not integrated into to nursing programs, and some nurses get adopted to the traditional way of practice at their healthcare organizations.
