Beatles Essay
Did you know that the beatles broke up because of Jhon Lenan and that theres only two of them alive right now at this day?The togethernesss of captivating mixed with woeful events could be seen in history, music, and more! Americas frustration and sorrow due to Nixons impeechment, the oil crisis, and Elvis Presleys death is reflected in the arts of the 1970s. My first historical event that had happened was the Watergate Scandal or also Nixons impeechment. It had arrested five men for breaking into the D.N.C. headquarters at the watergate complex."Recording the tapes implicated the president, revealing that he had attempted to cover up the break in." Facing the fear of getting impeached, Nixon resighned the presidency in 1974. President Ford later became president, he had issued the Proclamation 4311 whicg gave nixon a full pardon for any of the crimes he did against the U.S. The society was weakend badly. "Watergate caused the American public to lose faith in the presidency, and examine the office as it had never been examined today. We all have equality and Nixon was caught using presidency power to obtruct justice. There was doubt and controversy at that time. People were now just confused on giving there faith to presidency or not. The art on this was all literature. Racism was the main type of literary subject. There were really good authors like Virgina Woolf, Agatha Christine, and J.R.R. Jolkien. "In nonfiction, several books related to Nixon and the Watergate Scandal topped the best-selling lists.1977 bought many high-profile biographical worcks of literary figures." Books like these had also informed Nixon about the actions he took. My second historical event that had happende was the oil embargo. The OAPEC made an oil embargo and it had lasted until March 1974. It had distrupted alot of U.S. oil prices, supply, and recession. The Oil Embargo ended with U.S. to create peace in the Middle East, which made this more complicating. Nixons administration

The Watergate Scandal was one of the largest scandals of American history. Richard Nixon was a father, a President, a friend, a Congressman and was the cause of the Watergate Scandal. But he betrayed his country by trying to cover up the fact that he was a part of the scandal. Nixon tried to hide the fact he didn’t know about the scandal by giving money to the people who broke into the Watergate and tried to stop the investigators that were looking into the crime and even tried to get the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) to stop looking into it. The Watergate Scandal changed presidential history because it made people less trusting of the Government, and changed the lives of many Americans, by making people rethink their political decisions.…

The U.S. economy was in struggle with lengthening gas lines, rising unemployment and inflation, and the stock market dropping. Nixon attempted to restore his image by representing himself as an elder statesman and by writing several books, including: The Real War (1980);Leaders (1982); Real Peace (1983) and more. (United States History- Richard M. Nixon) None of this improved the effects of Watergate, which continued to haunt him until his death on April 22, 1994.…

Nixon maltreatment of the nation’s highest office, ultimately led to a vision of the President as a lying, cheating scoundrel. "The cover-up and Nixon's other lies and distortions cast doubt on whether any individual could be trusted to do the right thing in the nation's highest office" (Walsh, "Shadow of Watergate Hangs Over U.S. Politics"). Nixon created major setbacks between the people and the government. Now people cannot trust anyone, even the person they elected, to act ethically and according to their needs. This type of scenario is a major problem, especially in the short term. It creates less political activism and activity because the people cannot trust the government, at a time in which the need for people to vote is at its peak. Nixon not only defaced the image of the President, but anyone who was in a position of power-government officials, businessmen, and many more. "The Senate Watergate hearings' revelations resulted in several changes in public opinion that would be expected by common sense-Richard Nixon, the Republican Party, big business, and the very rich all suffered losses in public esteem"(Robinson 403). Watergate increased public cynicism to big and powerful institutions. Interestingly it is not just government that was under public scrutiny; it was the rich and powerful, even if they were independent of government. The lies that Nixon created harmed, not only America, but himself. His web of lies…

Many people argue that the Watergate Scandal had an overall damaging and negative influence on American politics. They say that the scandal instilled in the citizens a feeling of distrust and doubt regarding politicians. On the other hand, I believe that even though the Watergate Scandal was an event of corruption in politics, its positive consequences outweighed the negative. The Watergate Scandal showed President Richard Nixon’s corruption in his attempt to cover up the break in of the office of the Democratic National Committee. Not only did he cover the crime up, he also raised money to keep the burglars quiet and abused his power to obstruct the FBI’s investigation, allowing illicit activities to take place. This event, at first glance,…

The 1960’s is a decade remembered for its counterculture, social revolution and an emergence of a new kind of popular culture. If you asked me what my first thoughts were when I hear the decade 1960s, I automatically think about the Beatles. Has a decade ever had such a defining musical group that represents not only a shift to more rebellious music such as Rock n Roll, but an influence so great that they are still talked about to this day? The Beatles not only changed music but they affected culture in ways that had not been challenged by a musical group before. I asked my mom what she remembers about the Beatles. She was only 6 when they performed on the Ed Sullivan Show but she still remembers. She said that, “The Beatles didn’t define a generation, they created one”. The first way that the Beatles challenged everyday popular culture was that the fact that they were British. Before the Beatles traveled across “the pond”, the U.S. had been a tough break for aspiring British pop groups. The Beatles wanted to teach the world that pop music could be intelligent and that British groups could do that just as well as American music groups. Some could argue that the Beatles did not start a phenomenon, they somehow perfected the cultural significance of 1950’s musicians before them like Buddy Holly and Elvis Presley. Before settling with their signature rock sound, The Beatles started in the Skiffle genre, a type of music with jazz, blues and roots influences. By 1960, Lennon wanted to move away from Skiffle to more of a Rock n Roll sound. Lennon and McCartney perfected their writing skills and relied less and less on on outside material. This was a groundbreaking ideal in the music industry and it had a lasting impact on culture. It urged other big name music acts such as the Rolling Stones to start writing their own music. Lennon and McCartney would eventually become one of the most famous…

The Watergate Scandal involved a number of illegal activities that were designed to help President Richard Nixon win re-election. The scandal involved burglary, wiretapping, campaign financing violations, and the use of government agencies to harm political opponents. A major part of the scandal was also the cover-up of all these illegal actions. The Watergate Scandal got its name from the Watergate office complex in Washington, D.C. This large office building was the home of the Democratic National Committee (DNC) headquarters, and the site of the break-in that began the largest scandal in American politics. However, even before the break-in, President Nixon had begun illegal operations.…
