Surgical Technology
The job titles for surgical technology is scrub tech, surgical tech, and a surgical technologist. To be able to become a surgical tech you must have a diploma, certificate or associate's degree to be able to work in the medical field. Surgical technologists typically need a postsecondary education. Many of the community colleges and vocational schools, as well as some universities and hospitals have programs in surgical technology. Programs are usually from several months to 2 years.
For surgical technology the classes include courses in anatomy and physiology, microbiology, medical terminology, and other topics. Surgical technologists are trained for the care and safety of patients, sterilization techniques, how to set

Average salaries for surgical techs are higher than the average for other health technologists and technicians, and exceeds the average for all occupations. The average salary a surgical tech can make depends on their line of field and the state they work in. Here is an example a surgical tech can make $43,715. If you work a lot of hours a week you will end up making more them average.
The Bureau of Labor Statistics say that job opportunities for surgical techs will grow by nineteen percent between 2010 and 2020. Hospitals should be able to provide new job opportunities. When they’re not in the operating room, the surgical technologists work in a clean, well-lighted, cool environment. In the operating room, however, it can become very warm under the surgical lights while wearing the sterile gown and gloves. Technologists and the other members of the surgical team must stand for long periods and must remain alert during the operations. At times they may be exposed to communicable diseases and unpleasant sights, odors and materials.
The surgical technologist may have to an emergency call with the other members of the surgical team. If there is an emergency like a car accident or a pregnant mother requiring a cesarean section the team members on call must come in, no matter what time of the day or night.
The advantages for a surgical tech is shorter school time. Surgical techs may go to school for two years, but have the option of going for only one year and will still have the skills they will need in the job market. There is less patient care, after surgery the patient goes back to the care of his or her nurse. There is a universal job description, a surgical tech is a surgical tech. No matter what settings you work in, the job will be mostly always be
