Becoming A Nurse
My father has had the greatest influence in the career choices in my life. I used to go with him at work and see him take care of his patients. His dedication and compassion for the people he treated were motivating and made me realize that I wanted to work in the medical field as well. When my father was later on hospitalized and had a brain tumor surgery, I noticed that it was the nurses that played a major role in his recovery, and to be remembered by us afterwards for the attention and care they gave him during that stressful time. Nursing became an alternative that I have intended to follow for a while. Having overcome some hard times, I am now ready to pursue a nursing career.
I choose Cleveland State University School of Nursing because of its good reputation and good reviews I have come across from friends and on line. The accelerated program will be intense and concentrated but I am ready to dedicate my next two years to it. I have a good support system in my family and I will give my maximum effort to fulfill all the requirements. Attending this program will give me the proper qualifications and the ability to have a positive impact on the future patients’ healthcare.
Helping people is very natural for me. Being a friendly person makes my job even easier and more enjoyable for me and the patients. Smoothing the patients’ stay and relieving their pain is very important to me, at the physical and emotional level. My current job as a PCA at a local Hospital has taught me that when a person is at the hospital they do not only need good healthcare but also some one that listens well and understands how they feel, that sometimes they are in a place where they do not want to be. Being patient and supportive is very important at all times.
I believe I will be a very good nurse because of the amount of knowledge and skills I earned through the many years of experience I have had in the medical field and the passion for this profession. As a nurse I will be

Throughout my nursing career up until this point I have not thought about way I practice nursing the way I do. I have always been a caring person. Therefore since that time I want to make a difference on the people who have to be hospitalized, helping them to recover. Although I would like to specialize with infants and children because they have a lower immune system and those are the most fundamental years of their lives.…

Introduction: Henry Peter Broughan once said, "Education makes people easy to lead, but difficult to drive; easy to govern, but impossible to enslave." I believe that education is the key to a successful future. Sadly, I know how people underestimate the benefits of going to college. I did not have a role model growing up and I want to be the person my daughter looks up to in her life. There are many health care jobs that will get me some insight on being a registered nurse. Everyone at some point in their life has made a trip to either the doctor’s office or the hospital. Many times, it can take hours to finally get seen by a doctor, and sitting in the waiting room is the last thing a person that is ill wants to do. According to Ann Hamric, Judith Spross, and Charlene Hanson (2009, 87) , their book Advanced Practice Nursing: An Integrative Approach states: “ The APN role that has shown the most significant growth is the NP. The number of RNs educated as NPs increased by 43.5% between 2000 and 2004 and more than doubled from 1996 to 2004.”…

My daddy served in the Navy during WWII. When the war was over he returned to states and was immediately hospitalized. He was so young and had experienced things he never wanted to think about again. However, he always complimented the nurses that took care of him. They helped heal his body, but more importantly they helped to heal his spirit and soul. I cannot count the times he said, “I want one of you girls to be a nurse,” and I knew it was going to be me.…

Because nurses deal with multiple cases at the same time, they must have good organizational, prioritizational, and sound decisions-making skills. These tasks make delivering optimal nursing care much more difficult. These issues have also been studied by the American Association of Critical Care Nurses (2005), in order to make essential changes within the healthcare system. Heavy caseloads can make assessing, managing, and treating difficult cases extremely stressful and overwhelming. Achieving an appropriate entry-level education and the training necessary will give nurses the ability to handle the work burden, i.e., the ability to think critically, and proactively advance, the resolution of care for the patients. For instance, Introduction to Nursing Practices will educate the nurses about the basic elements that should be included in giving patient care. Nursing Management is another class that will help nurses with interpersonal skills and leadership. These include to delegating responsibilities, balancing the workload, and to resolving conflicts. This class also teaches the organization structure of hospitals. Among other things, this teaches future nurses how lower costs for the…
