Shiloh jolted awake to the round, honey-brown eyes of Lily staring straight through her. It took a moment to adjust to being awake, especially since it was only two o'clock in the morning, which she soon became aware of. Typically, it was out of character for Lily to do this, and rather Shiloh was usually the one to wake people up in the mornings so that they could converse or play a game perhaps. But as soon as Shiloh noticed the traumatizing fear that almost spit itself out of Lily's eyes, she collected that something was devastatingly wrong.

Lily seemed to sit up a bit straighter, and never made eye contact with her even once, but rather looked above Shiloh and into a far away place. Shiloh had never seen her act this way before and wasn't sure what to do or say to her.
"So, what exactly's been eatin' you up about these dreams? They seem just fine to me."
"Well, other than their wings, they seemed to look like your average, every-day animals: cats, dogs, and so on. They were a bit sad and didn't talk much, but even then I couldn't understand what they were sayin'. And then there was the place they took me to. It was so pretty, Shi! There was blue everywhere, and all the snow you could imagine!"
"Snow!" she nearly yelped. Being Southerners, neither of the two girls had ever seen snow before except maybe once or twice, and even then it was only a light dusting across everyone's yard. Snow was like a sign from heaven for Shiloh, and always thought of it as its underlying meaning of peace and tranquility. She felt safe when the light flakes would fall from the sky and into her palm.
"Yes! All the snow you could imagine, and when the snow started to melt, all you had to do was ask for more and it'd be right there in front of you!"
