Behavior Case Study: Tyler

Behavior Progress: During this review period, Tyler participated in all aspects of the program with minimal difficulty. This review period, Tyler only received two sanctions which occurred on the same day on 8/28/17 for profanity and making an inappropriate comment regarding a staff member. As Tyler is currently a Level III participant, two sanctions in one day result in a 4-hour room restriction as an additional consequence. Tyler reports that he later apologized to the staff member after reflecting on his comments and expressed his recommitment to following all the rules and expectations of the program. Overall, Tyler has continued to manage his behavior in the program and was recently selected as Honor Resident.

With regard to community-based activities, Tyler and his peers have continued to participate in cooking classes at the Young Chef’s Academy and another community service opportunity with Victory Tabernacle Church. During
Mr. John Zuber, Tyler’s father, has continued to communicate with this writer without concern. Mr. Zuber have not reported any issues regarding Tyler’s behavior during home passes, and has expressed that he is hopeful that Tyler can continue his positive behavior and motivation upon his release from the program. The Final Transition/Aftercare plan is scheduled for 9/22/17.

Family/Clinical Progress: During this review period, Tyler continued to participate in group and individual therapy. This review period, Tyler successfully completed MRT and Staying Quit.

Tyler has continued to engage in individual therapy sessions with the Post Dispositional Program Clinician, Ms. Carroll. Ms. Carroll reports sessions have focused on transition planning, goal setting, anger management and social/interpersonal skills. According to Ms. Carroll, Tyler has identified prosocial activities he wishes to engage in when he returns home, and he is motivated to earn his GED and
