Behavioral and Social/Cognitive Approaches to Forming Habits
Habits are formed from a person or individuals environment and mostly from our parents consistently making and instilling in our being how to take care of our selves. In this paper the writer will address a habit that is consistent within his or her lifestyle. In addition the writer will analysis the habit, determine how that habit was developed, whom did that habit come from, as well as which people influenced the habit from beginning childhood. Looking at my behavioral habits through that definition explains a lot of how I have been raised. During my childhood, cleaning and becoming more organized is everything that I really knew. Having that habit engrained into my way of living for the majority of my life, makes it hard to see me living in another way. In consideration of my analysis on my cleaning habits that were formed from my parents I would find that there is no reason to develop a plan to make or change my habit. The habit of cleaning has made me more organized and structured, which is helping me teach my children how to be clean and responsible young people. Cleanliness is close to Godliness is a saying I have always heard. TO me it means that become a clean, and organized person leads to less stress in ones life. We learn from observing others and influence our development. The environment that I was raised in influenced my behaviors and mindset. I found myself to be a visual learner and because of that I would say that social cognitive theories best describes my personality. However, I believe it is hard to ignore the behavioral theories knowing that each individual had a person that has given them instructions growing up that shape them and mold them into the adults that we are
