Pre-hospital emergency medical treatment could be the difference between life and death, but it takes a special individual with a great deal of training. A paramedic is an individual who is at the highest level of emergency medical technicians, or EMTs. They are qualified to do medical work, typically in emergency first aid, and have a higher education in anatomy and physiology, cardiology, medications, and medical procedures. They may also administer intravenous lines, or IVs.
Some may look at all EMT’s as the same, although that is not the case. There are three types of emergency medical technicians. The first being an EMT-B, or basic EMT.
