What comes from being mindful?
The answer starts with optimism and gratitude. People, who are mindful of themselves, know how to take care of themselves and others better, more so than others who aren’t mindful. They’ll know what makes them happy and even be more open-minded; that leads to optimism and positive thinking in general. Mindfulness makes people more conscious of thoughts and emotions, two of the biggest aspects when being optimistic and grateful (7 Great Benefits of Mindfulness in Positive Psychology). Mindfulness means reflecting on openness and introspection as well as improving personal
well-being.
As a matter of fact, it is shown that depression is reduced in people who are practice being more mindful (Finucane and Mercer). A study was done in order to see the effectiveness of mindfulness for individuals who are generally depressed or have anxiety. Finucane and Mercer did the study with 13 participants and used a Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy treatment program to help prevent a relapse for the people with depression. The conclusion was that the mindfulness based cognitive therapy played a large role in fighting depression and anxiety. They stated how a view of the individuals had a relapse, but a majority continued practicing mindfulness.
