Being Thankful Essay
“When asked if my cup is half-full or half-empty, my only response is that I am thankful that I have a cup.” - Anonymous. Being thankful is vital part of being a good human being to those around you. When you are thankful, you show how you appreciate what those around you have done to help you. I am thankful for my grandparents, family, and school. Grandparents are like a treat to have. For example, they cook us delicious food when we visit. Grandparents are the ones who make mouthwatering chicken, pies, and soup. During Thanksgiving visits, they offer you to help them with the food, and give you all the credit for it. They also have the best stories. Whether it happened to them or in a fairy tale, they’re sure to make you laugh or learn a lesson. Lastly, they also give the best presents. On birthdays, we get the second-best cards from them (uncles give the best) and a stunning present or check. Family is like your backbone. They support you in everything that you do. This class is one of my favorites because of the different ways you think. You don’t take notes on some warlord from 2,000 years ago, you get to think creatively and show what you can do. Lastly, getting a good education is something from school that I am grateful for. My family values education greatly and has high expectations, which St. Anne

The Lord is a very generous and loving God. We, as followers and believers of Christ, should be thankful for everything He does. Many people in the world are not thankful for all the things the Lord does for them. They tend to complain about their life and worry about what they do not have rather than think about all the things they are privileged to have. People worry too much about who has the best phone, or car, or house, etc. and they do not focus on what is really important, which is their relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ. It is very easy to think of all the things we do not have and be unthankful. We can be jealous and covetous. But the hard thing to do is to remember to thank God for everything He has provided for us and for the wonderful life that He has given us.…

Grandmas, the ones that cook for you and give you candy are the ones that love you for who you are and let you get away with things they wouldn't let their own kids get away with. Some grandmas can't even walk when they get up in age, but then there are some like mine who at the age of 83 are doing things other 83 years olds don't and shouldn't be doing. Most people would expect an 83 year old grandma to be knitting, light cooking, playing bingo and slowly walking her way to church. Not my grandmother, you can find her climbing on ladders, fixing fans, constantly moving, driving big pick-up trucks, all while looking like she is going to the social club.…

Have you ever heard someone say that they have no reason to be thankful? I was talking with a woman who was complaining on and on about everything you could possibly think of, and I said to her, "Why don't you focus on the things you have to be thankful for?" And she said, "I don't have anything to be thankful for: no one has ever given me anything. I work hard for everything I get and no one has ever helped me." I suggested she could be thankful that she was able to work, that she was in good enough health to work, that she had a job, and so forth. And she cursed at me. I felt very sad for her.…

I read “The Celebration of Grandfathers” and also read “The Vital Importance of the Grandparent-Grandchild Bond”. The similar observations i found in both articles were that they respect and look up to their grandparents. Another observation I saw was that they learned their grandparents traditions and how they lived. They tried to keep it going after they passed away. My last observation was that the grandchildren keep their grandparents close to their heart even though they don’t see them on a regular basis.…

It’s not so easy being grateful since it’s really hard to be happy with what you already have and realizing how lucky you are to have them. I honestly wasn’t grateful for anything, I thought I never had enough, I always wanted more. Till the day came that reality slapped me across the face and helped me open my eyes to something’s I thought I would never notice. I didn’t learn to be grateful all by myself, I had the help of an amazing friend that and I’m glad she came around because if it was for her, I’d still be the same old ignorant person I used to be.…
