Being The Oldest Child Pros And Cons
Many individuals receive advantages and disadvantages in the order your siblings and you were born. There are Pros and Cons to whether you are the youngest, oldest, in the middle, or the only child. In my case, I am the oldest child in my family. Some of the pros of being the oldest child are you get to experience things first, siblings often look up to you, and you can mess around with them. Consequently, some of the cons are that parents will be stricter in allowing you more freedom, you get a ton of pressure on your shoulder to set a good example, and you have more responsibilities with that. Being the eldest child in the family may be easier or tougher depending on your sibling’s behavior. “I’m different that way. I mean, my second-oldest brother, Soda, who is sixteen-going-on-seventeen, never cracks a book at all, and my oldest brother, Darrell, who we call Darry, works too long and hard to be interested in a story or drawing a picture, so I’m not like them”- The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton. In my household, I am the oldest child and I have one sister. My sister has black hair and has a very dark brown eye color. She is six years old and she is a first grader at Moorefield Station Elementary School. She is the …show more content…
Since your younger siblings admire you so much, they end up believing almost everything you say. You can tell them things like there is a monster under their bed, the tooth fairy and Santa are real, or make them believe that whenever you lie your nose grows longer. Things like that makes your siblings believe in everything you say, make their lives miserable and your life more enjoyable. My sister is one of those people that will believe mostly everything I say. One fine day, I told her that the tooth fairy is real, and she believed me. The next week I told her the tooth fairy was not real, and she believed me as well. So now I know she will listen to everything I

I believe the study and awareness of a person’s birth order in the family can be useful information during certain researches. Everyone has a birth type, it is not shocking that many people have developed and understood theories regarding birth order and personality. Firstborn is the experimental child. They are held to a higher standard. They do not like surprises. They are natural leaders. Once in an interview Dr. Leman said “There’s not a firstborn living that hasn’t had their mom or dad say to them, I don’t care what she did, you are the oldest.”(Walcutt, 2009) Second born children are completely differently than the oldest. Middle children are usually secretive and often call themselves the black sheep of the family. The youngest child is very manipulative, outgoing, a people person. Younger children are often risk takers in life and are always up for a challenge. Only children are almost the same as first borns. Dr. Leman said they are little adults by the age of seven. An only child have downfalls, they do not get alone with other children their age very well, they rather be around older children or an adult that they can cling to. They do very well in life, and they become very successful in the career that they chose. Your birth order can regulate the type of person you become. Birth order research has a large focus on relation to intelligence and educational achievement. Some research in this area show that birth order effects are inextricably related to family size. Your birth order can have an impact on the type of person you are, what type of companion you feel comfortable with and which type of job you will have. No person is bound to certain traits just because of their placement. Each birth order had its own set of advantages and disadvantages. I am a middle child. I have an older sister, brother and two younger brothers. The two oldest were pretty close while we were growing up, and my two younger brothers are still close. I really was…

Don’t get me started on siblings. Everyone who has a sibling knows that they are the most irritating thing in the world. I mean who could blame me for thinking this seen as I am the second eldest of four, with two younger sisters and an older brother. Despite having 3 siblings I actually feel the pain of all those middle children out there as for ten years of my life, I myself was one of you. Yes, that does mean I know how it feels to be left out of ‘The Cool Club.’ When we were growing up I was simply too smelly, too stupid and just too uncool to do anything but watch as my brother and sister have fun without me. Once the youngest came along things changed, but sadly not in the ways I had hoped.…

We as younger siblings will often be compared to our older sibling. I have to deal with past teachers that expect the absolute best from me because Zoe Needham was a star student. I have to be pushed by my parents to make sure that I am keeping up with Zoe's scores and test grades. I am expected to make and have friends that are as good and kind as Zoe's friends. Also, I need to be as pretty and in shape as Zoe because no one wants to be the ugly little sister.…

The eldest child, Brandon, has made my life the way it is. He has shaped out what my life will be turning into. Brandon is the person who made me get involved with sports. My big brother has helped me get to where I am today; for instance, he inspired me to get the idea to start playing ball. Also, Brandon shows how much he loves me by protecting me. Whenever we go to Pittsburgh, for example, he will always tell me to stay beside him because he doesn’t want me to get stolen or hurt. I know that may sound a bit childish, but it makes me feel like I can not be harmed. Now, for the next earliest birth given to my sister, Ashley, she’s a different story. She is the complete opposite of my brother. Ashley is such a girly girl in my eyes. My sister is very different from me, but she is always there for me. If I’m in a pinch, she’ll help me out of it. One time, I forgot to tell my dad that I was staying after school for Robolab, so my dad was worried that he wouldn’t be able to take me home. Well, my sister texted me and said that she would come pick me up, take me to Sincerely Yogurt, and take me to the store. Plus, when I’m in a pinch with decision making, she always helps me make the right decision. Most of the time, I’ll just ask her what her opinion is on things, and then I’d take her word for it. But it doesn’t stop there. At this moment, it’s time for my youngest brother, Ryan. He makes my life very likable because I believe that Ryan has had the most greatest influence on my life. Because there is a 9 year difference, I was forced to watch my little brother when my parents went out somewhere. Essentially, my parents go bowling on Mondays, meanwhile Brandon was at college, Ashley was at work, and then it was just me. So, my parents trusted me to watch Ryan. Since my parents have put this much pressure on me, it makes me more responsible. Also,…

Older siblings! Role models, influences, they carry much more responsibility than it appears. Older siblings, whether they know it or not, shape their younger one’s character and personality. Parents are important, but the older sibling may reinforce or disprove some of the lessons that the parents teach. Younger siblings may not admit to it but they look up to their older sibling and they emulate them. Older siblings particularly serve as agents of socialization who teach younger siblings by example about informal social behaviors, like how to act around friends. Younger siblings are also highly susceptible to acquiring older siblings' negative habits, including but not limited to: underage drinking and smoking.…

personality, feelings, and thoughts. De. Leman stated in his Birth Order Book that “birth order is designed to give you clues about what an individual is like and what their thoughts and feelings are (75).” Birth Order can be affected by factors such as the number of siblings an individual has and the age gap separating them. Although an individual can not change his or her birth order, he or she can change a mindset which influences actions and personality. Birth Order affects personalities depending on if an individual is a firstborn, middle child, or the youngest.…

In my life, birth order doesn't actually affect me that much as "LWFC" does for Tita (I am the youngest), but it still has some negative effects. Firstly, I am expected to do more than my brother. Since my brother is the one doing my mistakes, my parents think I should be able to learn from them and move on. This is probably the worst part of being the youngest, as it forces me to be better than someone who is already pretty well-behaved. Next, I am also given hand-me down and am not allowed to waste them. Instead of being able to buy my own clothes, my parents believe I should help save up by wearing my brother's. This doesn't really allow me to wear what I want. In conclusion, for me, being the youngest isn't really…

Your birth order affects the direction of your life greatly, determining where you are in the social construct of the world. At home, your birth order plays an obvious role in how your treated, but it also affects what generation you're born into. At home, being the youngest means I am always babied, but on a lighter note, I am also always spoiled. In real life though, the fact I was born in 1999, meant that the friends that I have today came because of that. If I were a year older or younger, I probably wouldn't be friends with who I am today. Because of my birth order, I'm who I am- and that's not necessarily a bad…
